Listed winner at Chester last time out but carries a 3lb penalty here and he's likely to bump in to a few better handicapped sorts here. Unplaced in five previous runs at this course.

Not won since his juvenile career but he did run a big race in a Group 3 over C&D at the Royal meeting last year. Not quite at the same level in three starts this year and well beaten at Newmarket last time out. Others preferred.

Age: 6|  Weight: 9-7| J: R Winston| T: D K Ivory| OR:  105| D

Impressive winner of a valuable handicap at York in 2017 on good to soft. Not at his best on two subsequent starts last year but shaped with plenty of promise on debut for this yard over 1m here last time. Lightly raced and capable of going well.

Won twice at Newmarket last year and ran with credit back at that course behind some of these last time when fifth of 18. Ran well over C&D back in October and the booking of Moore an obvious bonus for a yard flying at present.

Placed in the Norfolk here last year before a Group 2 win at Newmarket over 6f. Inconsistent this year but won in Listed class earlier in the campaign at Salisbury and ran well under a penalty at Newmarket last time out. Effectively 4lb lower here.

Had several of these in behind when an impressive well backed winner of the Bunbury Cup last time. Only has to carry a 3lb penalty for that and he's versatile with regards to ground; leading player here.

Age: 4|  Weight: 9-1| J: W Buick| T: R A Fahey| OR:  99

Unreliable sort who ended a poor run of defeats at Doncaster two starts back. Not in the same form when beaten at the Royal meeting and has a first try up at 7f here. Others preferred.

Age: 6|  Weight: 9-1| J: D Tudhope| T: D O'Meara| OR:  99

Losing run starting to mount up now but not beaten far behind several of these last time at Newmarket. While he may be seen to better effect back over 1m, a stiff 7f here is likely to suit and first-time cheekpieces may see him return to form.

Age: 3|  Weight: 8-13| J: B A Curtis| T: H Palmer| OR:  104| D

Didn't need to improve to win a Class 5 contest at Carlisle in May and ran with credit at odds of 100/1 in a C&D Group 3 at the Royal meeting. 4lb higher here and refused to go in to the stalls subsequently at Chester but still lightly raced.

Not won since his maiden success at Newbury as a juvenile. Unplaced in three outings this year including here last time out when well beaten and has a habit of missing the break. Looks in need of relief from the handicapper.

Age: 4|  Weight: 8-13| J: Dane O'Neill| T: M P Tregoning| OR:  97| CD

Won three times in 2017, rounding off the campaign with a C&D success. Had wind surgery in the off-season and while he looked in need of the run here on return, he disappointed when prominent in the market in the Bunbury Cup. Has a bit to prove now.

Age: 8|  Weight: 8-13| J: S De Sousa| T: Ian Williams| OR:  97| CD

C&D winner in 2017, following up next time at York. Returned to form with a dead-heat second at Newmarket last time and races off the same mark. 3lb better off with the winner from that day and not ruled out with a strong pace all but guaranteed.

Returned the season with a win at Kempton and while well beaten in the French Guineas next time, he produced a better effort over 1m here at the Royal meeting. Up 1lb for that but he's lightly raced and has the pace for the drop back to 7f.

Age: 4|  Weight: 8-11| J: Oisin Murphy| T: A Watson| OR:  95| D

Not won since his debut when winning a Kempton maiden but he shaped like a return to form was imminent when placed at Chester last time in Listed company behind re-opposing Oh This Is Us. Looks on a workable mark for a yard flying at present.

Won twice last year and returned with a highly promising effort over C&D in May. Couldn't land any sort of blow at Chester from off the pace last time but this track will play to his strengths more and likely to get the pace to aim at.

Has found some consistency since joining this yard and followed up a Sandown win over 1m with a placed effort over that same C&D last time. Not without a place chance and clearly in good form at present but this is a deeper race.

Louie de Palma54
Age: 6|  Weight: 8-8| J: David Probert| T: C G Cox| OR:  92| BF| C

Won his first two starts, the latter a 6f course win back in 2014 and placed in Group 2 class that year. Returned from a huge absence here in May, shaping like he needed the run and ran well in defeat at Windsor last time. Likely to build on that.

C&D winner here in May and got his head back in front at Newmarket two starts back. Had little chance from his position in a follow up bid last time but well suited to this type of test and likely he's still got more to give from this sort of mark.

Won his first two starts, the second of which a Listed success in France. Has shown enough in three starts for this yard to be of interest here and seemingly second string on jockey bookings.

Age: 5|  Weight: 8-7| J: Andrea Atzeni| T: R Varian| OR:  91| BF| D

Dead-heated for second with Shady McCoy last time in the Bunbury Cup and did the best of those racing prominently. Has been in good form all year and has to be of interest again off the same handicap mark here.

Age: 5|  Weight: 8-6| J: P Mathers| T: R A Fahey| OR:  90| D

Has won just once since his debut when getting his head back in front at Leicetser last year. Has placed numerous times this year but not in races as competitive as this and he looks vulnerable off this handicap mark. Wears first-time blinkers.

Age: 7|  Weight: 8-6| J: Joey Haynes| T: P R Chamings| OR:  90| D

Seemingly more effective on AW in recent times. Has run well over C&D before from higher handicap marks but would probably need the rain to stay away if he's going to play any sort of part.

Hajjam9
Age: 4|  Weight: 8-6| J: M Dwyer| T: D O'Meara| OR:  90| BF| D

Has won twice already this year and has run well in defeat over this trip at Doncaster on his last couple of starts. Needs more to mix it in this class of race but he ran well in defeat over C&D last year so he's hard to put a line through.

Age: 4|  Weight: 8-6| J: Noel Garbutt(3)| T: R A Fahey| OR:  90| D

Won twice at the start of the campaign with some cut in the ground but he hasn't looked as effective from his revised handicap mark and may be in need of softer ground than what's forecast here.

Age: 3|  Weight: 8-6| J: J F Egan| T: R A Fahey| OR:  94| D

Gained a first success since his maiden win at Newmarket last time out staying on well in the closing stages. There's a suspicion the stiff nature of this track will suit and he only carries a 3lb penalty for that win. Interesting runner here.

Clubbable14
Age: 3|  Weight: 8-3| J: P Hanagan| T: R A Fahey| OR:  94| D

Has looked progressive this season with wins at York and Chelmsford before a placed effort in Listed class at Carlisle. Probably didn't stay last time out over 1m but she's still relatively lightly raced in comparison to many of these.

Course winner on soft ground over 6f last year but has struggled in two outings this time around and he's a long way out of the handicap in this. Others preferred.

15:00 Ascot - 28 July 2018 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

Richard Fahey won this race with a big priced winner last year and he runs five in this year's event. Paul Hanagan may well have had the choice and goes for Clubbable who should benefit from a drop in trip here. However, SPANISH CITY is preferred having fared best of those who raced prominently in the Bunbury Cup and given a more conservative ride, he could be the one to side with. Cardsharp is another interesting runner from that race at the revised weights while Ripp Orf has already won over course and distance this season and has to be worth each-way consideration once again.
