Just 2lb above his last winning mark (1m, good to soft), and productive during this month in 2017, winning both starts; no excuses when finishing in the ruck at Ripon recently (sixth), but that came in a stronger race than today's.

Sole win came over 6f at Redcar in May 2017 (good), but bred to stay this trip out of a 1m winning dam (Marine Girl); needs to show considerably more than on his recent 7f comeback runs (Doncaster and Carlisle).

Formerly with David O'Meara, but has thrived this year for his new handler (2,1,1,2); evidently perfectly suited to this track (7f-1m), and unlucky in the run when failing to land the hat-trick at Chester ten days ago; up 2lb; strong chance.

Six-race turf maiden, but steadily dropping in the weights having commenced the season in Class 4 handicaps (ex Hugo Palmer-trained); no issues stamina wise as a 1m2f Chelmsford AW scorer in November 2017.

Not won since taking a 7f soft ground Doncaster maiden for Roger Fell in July 2017, and has fallen 10lb in the weights in five starts for Ruth Carr; potentially could get back on track once the ground conditions begin to ease.

Like so many of this trainers string, he's been out of sorts so far this season, but is now rated 16lb lower than when placed over C&D (heavy) in October 2017. Impressive record of 5,1,2 over C&D in July 2017.

Ran her best race for some time when finishing ½L second to Coviglia over C&D in June (20/1), but unable to build on that at Musselburgh latest - unlike her conqueror who has continued to thrive.

Finished strongly from an impossible position to get within 1L of a gambled on winner at Hamilton on Friday (1m+ good to firm); yet to win over further than 7f, but holds a definite chance for a doubly represented trainer.

50/1
Runner-up off a 12lb higher mark over C&D in October 2017 (soft), but well beaten at odds of 33/1 on all four starts at this track in 2018 (7f-1m2f), so impossible to recommend for a doubly represented trainer.

Forecasts

Coviglia (11/8), Lotara (4/1), Crazy Tornado (13/2), Black Salt (8/1), Lucky Violet (10/1), Edgar Allan Poe (11/1), Corked (14/1), Wasm (33/1), Rioja Day (50/1)

16:10 Ayr - 23 July 2018 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

COVIGLIA is the safe option in a race where a few of the others will soon be having their day from much reduced handicap marks. The selection has thrived for Jacqueline Coward (2,1,1,2), and was more than a shade unlucky not to land the hat-trick at Chester recently. He continues to climb the weights, but is evidently well suited to this track, so for that reason alone is preferred to the lightly-weighted mare Lotara who unfortunately for connections got going all too late at Hamilton on Friday.
