8/1
24,000gns foal, £150,000 yearling; tends to take a keen hold in his races, and despite shaping well enough on debut at Windsor in June (1m2f), he didn't take a step forward next time for the drop back in trip.

Invincible Spirit colt who could only be described as disappointing on debut at Wolverhampton (7f) in May, when finishing 11th of 12 to Ledham; dam was a winner over almost 1m4f, so could need further in time; wide draw.

Althaaqib24
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-2| J: Jim Crowley| T: Owen Burrows
9/4
Cost $1,900,000 as a yearling (dam a US 1m+ turf winner); showed signs of greeness on both starts so far, but really ought to have a much better understanding of what's required now, so no surprise if he shows improvement here.

Autumn War
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-2| J: G Mosse| T: C Hills
33/1
70,000gns purchase in 2016, dam a French 1m2f juvenile winner and a half-sister to 2m Group 3 winner Capal Garmon. Market helpful in assessing his chances from a wide draw (non-runner on intended debut at Nottingham on June 14th).

€23,000 yearling, €120,000 juvenile; unraced second foal and a half-brother to French 7.5f-8.5f winner Elusive Blue. Stable in fair recent form, and certainly no strangers to having winners at this track (14/72; 19% since 2015).

Unraced third foal by Foxwedge out of an unraced dam (Stravie); half-brother to 6f-1m1f winner True Comment.

40,000gns yearling (€65,000 foal); 18/1, but a well beaten tenth of 15 on debut at Newbury (1m, good to soft) in April; returns to action following a break for AW bow sporting newly applied blinkers.

Once raced Rip Van Winkle gelding; finished ninth of 14 on debut at Windsor (1m, good to firm) just over three weeks ago, and needs to come on plenty for that initial experience in order to play a positive role.

Horse silk
7/1
Unraced sixth foal by Dalakhani out of the 6f-1m1f winner Echelon. Brother to the 1m winner Integral and a half-brother to four other winners including Provenance (7f-1m), so no surprise that he fetched 160,000 as a yearling; noteworthy debutante.

Horse silk
33/1
Unraced first foal by Azamour out of an unraced dam (Dundel's Spirit) who was a half-sister to AW winners Botteen (7f) and Tina's Spirit (1m); cost 52,000gns as a yearling.

Horse silk
80/1
Low-key debut (7f) here last month, so this half-brother to six winners including Vivaldi (1m) needs to show obvious signs of improvement for the step up in trip; others preferred.

Horse silk

$190,000 yearling from a 6f winning dam (But For Money). Well beaten 11th of 12 on debut at Newmarket (1m2f) in May (50/1), and returns from a couple of months off dropped in trip for AW debut.

€65,000 yearling; 50/1, but finished a staying on 6½L fifth of 12 to Honey Man on debut over 7f here last month; new trip an obvious plus as a half-brother to 1m AW winning juvenile Red Ensign, but wide draw problematic.

14:50 Chelmsford City - 17 July 2018 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

Some of those with chances have been dealt a rough hand by the draw, with Mutanaasib (stall 15) the chief sufferer. In truth, this race rates as a fairly open looking novice contest, with Autumn War, Awalii Cottingham and Done Deal all worthy of close market inspection on debut, whilst the likes of the expensively purchased Althaaqib ($1,900,000 yearling) should have a much better understanding as to what is required from the racing game after two previous starts. However, with an official rating of 82, the seven-race maiden BLAME CULTURE has as good a chance as anything else over a trip (1m) which looks to be his optimum.
