6/1
€45,000 yearling who has some useful relations in his pedigree; brother to Mezidon (winner at up to 1m2f) and half-brother to two other winners. Stable not as prolific as they used to be with debutantes but still an appealing type on pedigree.

Showed some promise on his debut (shortest price of the newcomers) but looked in need of the experience over 6f; finished well held in the end. Started a lot shorter on his second start at Goodwood; looked as though he could do with more time.

Made a good impression on his first start over 6f at Newmarket despite showing some inexperience early on in the race. Visibly better through the second half of the contest he ran on late to finish 2nd; looks a certain improver.

Newcomer with an American pedigree with his dam a 6f dirt winner in America and he's a half-brother to a minor winner in the same country. Debutantes from this yard often better for the run and best watched unless supported.

Given two runs in May and down the field in both of them (fared better on his second start); since gelded. Looks highly tried here and will be better with a mark in low-grade nurseries.

Brother to a Listed-winning sprinter and a half-brother to four other winners this Clodovil gelding has a likeable pedigree. Yard are going well with their juveniles this season and close attention to the market is advised.

Meraki17
Age: 2|  Weight: 8-9| J: George Wood| T: H Candy
16/1
Green and inexperienced on his debut his price in the market (8/1) suggested that he was expected to do a lot better in the contest. Already gelded his pedigree is a real mixture but he will have needed to come on plenty to make an impact.

Wasn't at all fancied on his debut at Windsor (started 66/1) but offered something to work on and could well be better than he showed on his debut. Hampered on a couple of occasions he remains open to some more progress here.

Forecasts

Fox Coach (11/10), Grenadier (7/2), Boitron (6/1), Champion Brogie (9/1), Meraki (16/1), Barbegazi (16/1), Hackle Setter (20/1), Kenoughty (33/1)

18:25 Newbury - 12 July 2018 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

Quite a mixed bag here with Fox Coach very much the pick of those with experience having gone close and improved through the race at Newmarket on his debut. Champion Bridge is another once-raced individual who will have leant from his debut but his stable have only had one winner all season although that was a winning juvenile. There are some useful looking newcomers here though with Archie Watson trained GRENADIER the pick from a stable who are doing tremendously well with their two-year-olds. Boitron is another debutante who looks like he could make a mark in this with his pedigree making plenty of appeal.
  1. Grenadier
  2. Fox Coach
  3. Boitron
