Grand stamp of a horse with bags of potential. Travelled well for a long way here last time but, having got the better of a long duel with the third, he could not respond to the late run of the winner.
Has a good record in this grade, but he is an inconsistent sort who was poor when last seen. Possibly the type to do better when fresh, but hard to place maximum faith in him.
Coolmore owned €115,000 purchase for whom the penny dropped at Huntingdon. Showed a good turn of foot that day and potentially still ahead of the handicapper despite a rise in the weights.
Consistent at this level and lost noting in defeat behind a heavily backed winner at Cartmel when the the third was 23L adrift. Up in the weights but highly rated claimer on board so one of the main players here.
Has looked short of stamina in each of his runs since coming over from France. No evidence wind surgery had helped last time and it is just possible he is poorly handicapped at present.
Has done well in lesser company lately and is 8lb higher than when scoring at Southwell a month ago. Possibly has more to offer given his rate of progress.
Forecasts
Ready And Able (3/1), Barton Knoll (7/2), Black Buble (11/2), Bentons Lad (7/1), Good Tradition (15/2), Eureu Du Boulay (8/1), Exitas (11/1), Chimes Of Dylan (16/1), Verygoodverygood (20/1)
Good Tradition is consistent at this level but is vulnerable to an improving type such as Bentons Lad, Barton Knoll or READY AND ABLE. The former has been campaigning at a weaker level but has earned the right to be respected here despite a rise in the weights. The selection has been waiting for a chance to race on a sounder surface and duly obliged at Huntingdon when showing a good turn of foot. The expensive son of Flemensfirth may have deceived the handicapper that day and can follow up here.
