Decent third of 11 in handicap at Haydock (6f, good to firm) last week, not the most reliable of customers and can have his own notions at times. Player in the same mood.

Looked progressive last season, winning four times in the space of five runs. Respectable effort on return at Bath and will be suited by the likely quicker ground here. May resume progress.

Winner over similar trip on firm ground at Bath last summer, from 7lb lower mark. Within 1L of the winner at that track last month. 5lb claim may help case now, competitive.

Looked a nice sort when justifying favouritism on his debut in a 6f maiden on AW at Wolverhampton last year, a shade disappointing in two 5f turf handicaps thereafter and now having first outing since August. Cheekpieces added, market checked here.

Lightly-raced, winner of a 5f Haydock nursery in 2016. 632-days on the easy list to overcome here and well-being is a matter of trust. Watch betting, but surely will improve for this.

Epsom winner over this trip in August from mark of 88 on good ground. Not shown a lot in two runs this term, but clearly well-handicapped if getting anywhere near his peak.

Has generally struggled this year, losing his form on the AW and no signs of a revival back on turf. Dropping quickly in the handicap but best watched until signs of a revival.

Fair effort at Bath (5½f, good) last time off the back of a year off, drops 2lb and entitled to improve and be much more competitive now. Just 2lb above previous winning mark.

Career-best when winning 10-runner handicap at Goodwood (5f, good to soft) last time out, seemingly with more to give. Goes up 5lb for that win, though more of a concern might be ability to go on firmer ground.

Forecasts

Open Wide (9/4), Maygold (7/2), Handytalk (11/2), Our Lord (6/1), Secretfact (7/1), Majestic Hero (14/1), Always Amazing (16/1), Grey Galleon (16/1), Union Rose (20/1)

17:25 Salisbury - 17 June 2018 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

The filly Maygold arrives here on the back of a career-best effort at Goodwood and while her 5lb rise might not ground ambitions, firmer ground does raise a question, ensuring she's likely to look short enough in the betting. Our Lord was a big success for this trainer last season and should come on for his reappearance at Bath, the former C&D winner isn't passed over easily. HANDYTALK however is one that does relish quick ground and after a positive effort at Bath last time, the 5lb claim on his back could be key today. The lightly-raced Always Amazing is very much one to note in the betting.
