Built on a first run full of encouragement to score at Bath over today's trip staying on well and looking a bit better than the winning margin (1L). Looks as though he'll stay further than this trip and progress again; bred to be smart.

Left his debut form well behind on his second start at Thirsk over 1m4f and deserves extra credit considering his track position (caught a long way back). Looked a little ungainly but can improve and has the ability to win something like this.

Just had the one run so far and that came as a two-year-old last October on the AW over 1m1f. Made little impression on that occasion (got outpaced) and may do better this year but does lack some experience.

Price rose to €40,000 as a two-year-old but never ran at that age and now makes his debut. Closely related to a couple of staying winners, Rockfonic and Diversify and half-brother to several winners; yard rather quiet at the moment though.

First foal who cost 140,000 guineas as a two-year-old but only made his debut this season on the AW over 1m2f. Has a US pedigree but didn't offer much on his debut and may well be one for the longer term.

Showed promise on his debut runs as a juvenile and three-year-old but took a step backwards last time on his third run. May well still be learning and needing the experience but hardly impressed last time over 1m2f; went with little fluency.

Bred for stamina rather than speed (closely related to top-class 1m4f winner Postponed) and ran very green on his debut. Kept on under a hands-and-heels ride and they may well be more to come given his breeding over this trip.

His introduction as a two-year-old was a considerate one and he repaid that kindness with a much better second run (both those outings as a juvenile). Still looked as though he needed the experience but open to more progress on his return.

Newcomer who is a brother to two winners including the useful two-year-old 7f winner Minidress and half-brother to useful 1m2f winner Movie Set. Stable just starting to get going this year and worth noting in the market.

Forecasts

Caliburn (11/10), Flintrock (9/2), Volcanic Sky (13/2), Ready To Impress (7/1), Plentiful (10/1), Mapped (16/1), Guardsman (33/1), Four Champs (50/1), Gallus (66/1)

14:10 Haydock - 13 June 2018 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

Quite a mix of types in this with Flintrock still looking as though he can progress although the penalty that he has to carry here will make life a little more difficult for him and CALIBURN is preferred on the back of his sound run at Thirsk. He got caught a little too far back on that occasion and a more positive ride will see him in a better light today. Plenty of these will come on for the run such as Plentiful and Guardsman while Ready To Impress will be a danger if he is ready to go on his return. Of the newcomers Volcanic Sky is the one worth watching in the market with his trainer just starting to get going now.
  1. Caliburn
  2. Flintrock
  3. Volcanic Sky
