In and out performer, finished second at Ascot in January over 2m3f, hasn't matched that level of form in three starts since.

Won 3m Wetherby handicap chase in November, not as good since but was seemingly going with a bit more purpose at Kelso last time before being brought down.

Couple of wins over similar trips last summer came in fairly modest races and was duly found out before the season ended. Needs to bring a bit extra now back from six-month layoff.

Just the one win and proved a mixed back over timber, failed to impress last time out on chasing bow at Uttoxeter and looks one to swerve at the moment.

Confirmed the suspicion he was still well handicapped when getting up in dying strides to win at Warwick (3m, good) last time out. 5lb higher now but still expected to be in the mix.

Now 13-years young and failed to complete in any of four starts since 2016, including last month's return from a year off at Huntingdon. Not hard to bypass.

Can be quirky and does his best stuff at Hexham with three of four wins there, including last month over 3m. Entitled to go well if reproducing that form here, won't want any rain.

Has become a bit quirky in the twilight of his career, showed he still retains ability at 13-years-old when second last time at Ffos Las (2m5f, good). Not a certainty to be in the same form 10 days later.

Plenty of places to show for his efforts over the last few months but finds getting his head in front hard - no win since March 2016. Again settled for third at Southwell last month. Similar role likely.

Scored over fences in Ireland in September over similar trip from 5lb lower mark. Quite possible the run was needed at Plumpton last month on first start for this trainer, watch betting.

Forecasts

Irish Octave (3/1), Western Wave (4/1), Golden Investment (9/2), Apache Pilot (7/1), Russborough (8/1), Little Jimmy (8/1), Twojayslad (10/1), What A Laugh (11/1), Bronco Billy (18/1), Spock (28/1), Massinis Adventure (28/1)

16:00 Bangor - 5 June 2018 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

Apache Pilot would likely be the selection were the race being run at Hexham, where he does best, while Irish Octave is expected to go well again following a narrow success at Warwick last time but the slender vote rests with GOLDEN INVESTMENT. Donald McCain's charge had yet to play his cards when he was brought down at Kelso last time out and might be able to return to winning ways now. Massinis Adventure is one to note in the betting with a run behind him for this yard.
  1. Golden Investment
  2. Irish Octave
  3. Apache Pilot
