Former Group 3 winner over this trip on fast ground for Hughie Morrison, but that was three years ago and his two starts for this trainer suggest that he has plenty to prove at present.

Has a good record when fresh and although both wins have been on soft, he also acts on good to firm. Best efforts give him at the very least each-way claims from this mark.

Made plenty of improvement in 2017 despite a string of second-placed efforts, the best of those in cheekpieces at Doncaster in September. They go back on today and, after a troubled passage at Chester last time, a clearer run would give him claims.

Stepped up successfully to this trip at Ascot in August, scoring from 3lb lower. Was keen enough at Chester last time when also meeting traffic issues but he will need to raise things another notch to win from this mark. Acts on good to firm.

Was very consistent from 1m6f-2m2f, on most ground including fast. Well below that form in two starts this term, however, and now 1lb lower than when ending last season with a conditions win at Pontefract. Not written off but needs to bounce back.

Yet to win beyond 1m4f, so does have stamina to prove, but with entries in the Ascot Gold Cup and Northumberland Plate, connections clearly feel that's where his future lays. Out of sorts on his return but open to improvement and interesting.

Two of his three wins have been under this pilot, the latest when stepped up to 2m½f at Lingfield last time to score by an eased-down 6L. Up 8lb and in a significantly stronger race here, but looking progressive and is short-listed.

Raced almost exclusively at Musselburgh last year, winning there three times, including over 2m on good to firm from 7lb lower in July. Still open to further improvement this term and has twice won when fresh. Each-way claims in this grade.

Was largely consistent in 2017, winning four including over this trip at Musselburgh (good to firm) in June from 3lb lower. Well below form in recent hurdles/Flat runs and needs a big about turn in fortunes from that to be winning this.

The Grand Visir is a very interesting runner here with some stellar entries over the next few weeks, so it would be no surprise to see him step up on his previous form now moving into the stayers' division. However, preference is for MANCINI, who also looks to be going places over marathon trips and proved himself a stayer with ability at Lingfield last time. He is also partnered by a man who rides this track better than most. Byron Flyer and Good Run can both have cases made for them, while a rejuvenated Dominating could not be ruled out.
