Ten race maiden and held in two handicap starts so far including when beaten 44L in a 26 runner contest at Leopardstown (2m2f, yielding) over Christmas. Needs to do more from a falling mark.

Showed a good jolt of improvement on third hurdles start at Tramore (2m, heavy) latest when finishing well to pick up third. Shaped there like this step up in trip would suit. This looks a fair opening mark and riders claim helps on handicap debut.

Has shown glimpses of ability over hurdles but finished off last year with a tame effort on handicap debut. Needs to have been freshened up by six month break but feeling is she's not on a bad mark. Market check needed.

Won her maiden hurdle at Wexford last July but things went tailed off quite a bit after. A disappointing chasing debut followed by two weak efforts in handicap hurdles. Had a six month break and should be capable of better.

Ran well at Clonmel two starts back and was bang in contention when unseating his rider three out at Tramore (2m5f, heavy) latest. This trip looks spot on and is a player with a clean round.

He is now 0-19 over hurdles which is hardly inspiring. Only 2lbs lower than when well beaten at Gowran seven months ago and will need to be sharp on the back of that break to take a hand.

25/1 and well beaten for handicap debut at Tramore (2m, heavy) three weeks ago. He has hinted a couple of times that the ability is there and this step up in trip looks a real good move. Market check surely needed for very shrewd connections.

Had some decent form in French bumpers but has failed to translate that to hurdles so far. Well backed latest and probably better than the bare form suggest having pecked badly three out. Likely to come good at some stage and is a player once more.

Won well at Fairyhouse two starts back off a 6lb lower mark. Longer trip and higher mark seem to catch her out next time and whilst this drop back in trip looks a good move. Handicapper may have her for now.

Won back-to-back races in October last year but has largely struggled since. Beaten a very long way on return from a break latest and others are preferred for now.

Age: 8|  Weight: 11-5| J: A McCurtin(5)| T: Patrick Cronin| OR:  95

Only one win from 29 starts tell its own story. Does have ability on a going day though and mark is slowly sliding to an attractive one. Not totally discounted despite the competitive nature of this race.

Horse silk
Wee Tigert161
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-4| J: D J McInerney(5)| T: R Hackett| OR:  94

24 race maiden and it is not easy to make a strong case for him. The step back up in trip is a positive and has been freshened up by a five month break.
13
Horse silk
Wild Sam20
Age: 8|  Weight: 11-4| J: T Ryan(7)| T: S Ryan| OR:  94| BF

Consistent animal that has been a beaten favourite on his last three starts. Sliding up the weights without winning but always gives his best and likely to be in the shake up once more.

Horse silk
Be My Westerner24
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-2| J: Mr Darragh Allen(7)| T: D Kenneally| OR:  92
50/1
Point-to-point winner who was beaten 49L on recent handicap debut at Tramore (2m, heavy). Chance that this step up in trip and better ground could see her in a much better light and market check is needed.

Struggles to get his head in front but ran a cracker on return from a five month break at Tramore (2m5f, heavy) latest. Raised 3lbs for that effort which makes life tougher.

Age: 6|  Weight: 11-2| J: J P O'Sullivan(7)| T: S Aherne| OR:  92

Won a bumper at Killarney last May but has been beaten a very long way in her three qualifying runs. Needs the step up in trip and switch to handicaps to bring about some improvement to be involved.

Urbanist21
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-2| J: E O'Connell(7)| T: S Nolan| OR:  92| BF

Has been running consistently well over the winter and again went close at Fairyhouse (2m, soft) latest. Takes a step up in trip today and has been nudged up 3lb but likely to give his running once more.

Goodnightngodbless28
Age: 5|  Weight: 10-13| J: L P Dempsey| T: J Motherway| OR:  89

Has been beaten a long way on all starts so far including by 63L on handicap debut at Limerick last time. Needs to show an awful lot more to be of interest but connections will disappointed if she doesn't improve at some point.

Took a step forward for his comeback effort when finishing fourth of 18 at Limerick (2m, heavy) latest. Dropped another 1lb and steps up in trip so likely to give it another good shot.

First reserve. Well backed favourite when winning with plenty to spare at Sligo earlier this week. 6lb rise unlikely to stop another bold bid if getting a run.

18:00 Tipperary - 10 May 2018 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

This is devilishly competitive stuff. Lord Erskine (first reserve) won really well four days ago and would be very hard to beat if he gets a run here. Oskar High was an improved performer last season and could be danger if ready to go on the back of a break. Play The Dane makes some appeal going back up in trip for handicap debut. Money for Be My Westener or Goodnightgodbless could well be significant as they are both likely to be better than they have shown to date. We will take a chance though on HERO’S WELCOME coming good on his second handicap run. He shaped with promise at Tramore last time and this step up in trip looks a good move. Any market support would only enhance confidence.
  1. Hero's Welcome
  2. Lord Erskine
  3. Oskar High
