Very moderate in two bumpers and worse still on her hurdles debut at Taunton last time. Step up in trip looks positive, but very much one to watch.

11/8
Was the easy winner of a mares' maiden Irish point-to-point a year ago and bought for £80,000 shortly after. Half-sister to a point-to-point winner, out of a bumper-winning half-sister to nine winners. Should be capable of a good debut.

Age: 5|  Weight: 10-12| J: J J Burke| T: Miss E C Lavelle
50/1
Failed to pull up any trees in two bumper runs (went off at 7-2 on debut) despite some success in that sphere in her pedigree. Is also related to jumps winners, so may do better now. Precautionary market check prudent.
Mares' maiden Irish point-to-point winner (heavy) in December and showed some promise on her hurdles debut at Chepstow in March over an inadequate trip. This step up should suit and she is likely to be very competitive.

14/1
Showed occasional promise over hurdles in the winter, notably at Exeter (2m2½f, soft) and Plumpton (2m4½f, good). Pulled up over 3m at Taunton last time, but if drop in trip/cheekpieces help then she could pick up some prize money.

100/1
Won a mares' maiden Irish point-to-point (heavy) at the fifth attempt in March and was bought for £5,500 after that. 100-1 and last of six on her hurdles debut at Towcester (2m3f, good) on Sunday. Looks best watched.

Age: 6|  Weight: 10-12| J: N P Madden| T: H Fry| OR:  114
2/1
Won a Southwell bumper (soft) last year and has progressed with each run over hurdles, her best effort being at Wincanton (2m5½f, heavy) when last seen in February. Should be in the mix if handling a sound surface on her first try.

Swatowh15
Age: 6|  Weight: 10-12| J: Sam Twiston-Davies| T: Miss E C Lavelle| OR:  118
7/2
Was runner-up in her first three hurdles last spring, all on good ground from 2m2½f-2m4½f. Jumped into back of an opponent and unseated at first on her reappearance. Hood retained here and if she jumps around she has claims.

Forecasts

Desirable Court (11/8), Rosemary Russet (2/1), Swatow (7/2), Kilcullen Bellamy (12/1), Kiwi Myth (14/1), Frizzle (50/1), Audora (66/1), Oldtown Polly (100/1)

14:10 Newton Abbot - 9 May 2018 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

Newcomer Desirable Court looks very interesting, having had a wind op prior to this rules debut. It would be no surprise to see her go close but experience might count in the favour of ROSEMARY RUSSET, who has been coming along nicely over hurdles and she is given the vote in the hope that she handles this faster ground than she has previously raced on. Kilcullen Bellamy, Swatow and Kiwi Myth look to be the others to concentrate on.
  1. Rosemary Russet
  2. Desirable Court
  3. Swatow
