Appeared to have his first win at his mercy last time (first-time blinkers) when second over C&D (possible that the winner was more tenacious). Now tried in a visor for the first-time and claims if repeating that last run off a 3lb higher mark.

Failed to improve for going into handicaps last time although his initial mark looks a stiff one. Still has time to improve though from a yard who are generally better over the summer months; cheekpieces now on for first-time.

Yet to win a race although did manage some placed form for his previous yard (Neil King). His four starts for his new yard have been modest to say the least and he now reverts to hurdles having tried chasing (unsuccessfully) the last twice.

Still a maiden and has rather a mixed record although there were on his return from a break that he was getting himself together. That's not really happened although he did run well enough in this grade last time; now off a career-low mark.

Failed to match what he did in bumpers when tried in novice hurdles but it looked as though handicaps would bring some progress. That's not really happened though and once again he failed to see out this trip at Kempton last time.

Showed some minor glimpses of form last year but in essence always looked to be just going through the motions. Ran very poorly over hurdles when last seen (jumped badly) and now returns after a long absence; others have stronger claims.

You have to go back to last summer to find anything like a solid piece of form with all his recent starts well below-par. Pulled-up on two of his last three starts and hopes pinned on a better surface to race on here.

Robin De Broome97
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-4| J: Thomas Garner(3)| T: B Barr| OR:  92

His bumper and novice hurdle form is poor and not even a move into handicaps could spark any progress. Yet to be tried on a decent surface though and that may bring about some improvement dropped in the weights for his initial effort by 5lb.

Howlongisafootb24
Age: 9|  Weight: 11-2| J: Harry Reed(5)| T: C Gordon| OR:  90| BF| D

Not really one to trust having lost his way over fences and failed to re-establish himself over hurdles last time out. Has fallen a long way in the weights but without looking as though he will take advantage any time soon; lazy sort.

Age: 7|  Weight: 10-10| J: Miss Brodie Hampson(5)| T: D C O'Brien| OR:  84

Flat winner over 1m2f but has shown little in four novice hurdles so far and now goes handicapping for the first time off a lowly mark. Wore blinkers for his Flat win and now tried in headgear (visor) for the first-time over hurdles.

Took advantage of a reduced mark and a good young rider when winning here over shorter in December off a long break. Looks to have rather lost her way since then in four starts having hardly beaten a rival and hard to fancy here.

Horse silk
Snazz Man25
Age: 8|  Weight: 10-5| J: Lucy Gardner(3)| T: Mrs S Gardner| OR:  79
6/1
Started at big prices in all his novice hurdles and a step into handicaps with a change of tactics (front-running) failed to bring about any progress. Dropped a further 5lb here but hard to make a case for him.

Dropzoneb15
Age: 9|  Weight: 10-4| J: T J O'Brien| T: B Forsey| OR:  78
14/1
Has a least won a race (Taunton 3m) but that was a fair while ago now and he's looked an awkward sort in his races since. Shaped as though he would be better for the run when returning last time but always a hard one to trust overall.

Horse silk
John Biscuit161
Age: 10|  Weight: 10-3| J: Andrew Tinkler| T: Miss J S Davis| OR:  77
12/1
Lightly-raced since landing a handicap at Plumpton (October 2016) but not seen much of late and only has some very modest form to his name. Has an absence to overcome and his mark can't get much lower.

Forecasts

Summer Getaway (3/1), Snazz Man (6/1), Howlongisafoot (6/1), Project Mars (6/1), Black Anthem (8/1), John Biscuit (12/1), Waikiki Waves (12/1), Minella Style (12/1), Dropzone (14/1), Vexillum (25/1), Alltimegold (40/1), Willshebetrying (40/1), Robin De Broome (50/1), Chocolate Diamond (100/1)

17:10 Fontwell - 9 May 2018 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

Not a strong event by any means and several of these are searching for their form or some progress. PROJECT MARS looked to run well enough here last time and despite just giving best close home with another change of headgear he could go one better today. Summer Getaway looks as though he could emerge to be one of the chief threats especially as he now runs off a career-low mark. Dropzone isn’t one to trust implicitly but he should be sharper for his last run and has a place chance if he’s on his best behaviour. Of those tried only recently tried in handicaps Alltimegold and Robin De Broome are two that shouldn’t totally be written off.
  1. Project Mars
  2. Summer Getaway
  3. Dropzone
