Not disgraced on debut at Thirsk over 5f (May 2017), but has shown precious little since over 6f, and makes her handicap debut today over a much longer trip.

Sepoy colt (15,000 gns yearling) who hasn't looked anything special so far, but interesting that his trainer perseveres for now. Handicap debut.

Solid Tapeta performer (two-time 1m Newcastle winner), beating the subsequent dual scorer Odds On Oli by 1L on her penultimate start. Translated that improvement back to turf latest at Wetherby (1m soft), so should feature.

Rip Van Winkle filly who never threatened on her previous visit to Redcar in October 2017 (C&D), but that form was well advertised at Thirsk on Monday with the third placed The Navigator winning. Allocated a fair opening handicap mark.

Kept on, but never a serious threat to cosy odds-on winner Black Sails at Lingfield last week (7f). Risen in the weights, but lines up today in first time cheek-pieces.

Cost €60,000 as a yearling (useful pedigree), but has failed to deliver on the racecourse so far hence her lowly opening handicap mark. More needed.

Fetched 370,000 gns at the breeze-ups (48,000 gns yearling), but pretty much a tale of woe so far. Shaped as if worth trying over this longer trip at Kempton last month (7f), and helpfully is 3lb lower today.

Green and inexperienced in all three starts, and appears very slow in learning the ropes. Upped in trip for handicap debut, and based on pedigree that should at least unleash some minor improvement.

Left Richard Hannon cheaply in September 2017 (£1,500). Shown no ability so far hence the knock down sales price (65,000 gns yearling). No chance unless totally transformed by his new handler.

Now a six-race maiden and in free-fall down the weights. Tailed off last of twelve on her last start at Southwell in December 2017 (1m).

Now a nine-race maiden. Never raced beyond 7f in her career, but makes little appeal whatever the trip until demonstrating otherwise.

Brother to 7f AW winner Dubai Waves, and has an unusual profile for this trainer (very lowly rated). Produced an improved effort at Southwell (1m) last month when beaten 9L by Port Soif (finished fourth of ten).

Forecasts

Don't Cry About It (4/1), Plansina (4/1), Conflagration (5/1), If We Can Can (11/2), Benaras (12/1), Voice Of Dubai (14/1), Thundercloud (16/1), Dubai Classic (16/1), Whinmoor (16/1), Mafdet (16/1), Kylie Style (22/1), Glacier (33/1)

17:10 Redcar - 3 May 2018 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

A race stacked full of disappointing horses, with Ed Dunlop no doubt exasperated with the 370,000 gns breeze-up pick Conflagration, and both Hugo Palmer (Voice Of Dubai) and Mark Johnston (If We Can Can) persevering with their charges for now. Plansina has progressed on the AW and looks more solid than the majority, but we'll opt for the handicap debutante MAFDET. She has been allocated a fair opening mark and looks capable of a bold show in this company.
