Promise on all three starts in novice company this spring, two of them on the AW at Wolverhampton. Takes a drop in trip, but may be seen to best effect when handicapping.

Gelded son of Paco Boy who is a half-brother to middle-distance winner Brockwell. Nice-enough pedigree, but will probably needs this debut experience.

8/1
Fair debut when fourth of 11 at Wolverhampton in the autumn, but could not kick on over this C&D next time. Should do better as a three-year-old and looks another whose future lies in handicaps, probably over further. Stable also runs Zilara.

25/1
Gelded son of Thewayyourare who fetched €12,000 as a yearling and is a half-brother to four winners over a variety of distances. Likely to need the run on debut, but is worth a check in the betting as the stable landed this contest a year ago.

An 8,000 gns son of Henrythenavigator, who is a half-brother to four winners including Syncopate and Familliarity. Slowly away when a promising fourth of eight at Pontefract on debut in September and is one to watch on his return to action.

Not without signs of ability in his two starts at Windsor and Kempton. Qualifies for a handicap mark after this and can be expected to do better in that sphere.

Captain Gerrard gelding who is a half-brother to several winners including the useful Multi Bene and Mr Adjudicator. Well beaten at Kempton on debut at Kempton last month and may need more time to develop.

6/1
Placed on her last three starts, including when third over 1m 2f at this venue in February. Drops back in trip and looks the one to beat on form.
Daughter of Major Cadeaux whose dam won over 5f and 6f. Pedigree suggests she should be able to win a race or two, but she will almost certainly be wiser for this debut experience.

Rip Van Winkle filly whose dam won over 1m4f. Will stay further than this in time and is another for whom a debut run will probably be needed to bring her on.

Good runs to be third on both starts over C&D. May well be good enough to hit the frame again, but one or two others appeal as more likely winners.

Zilara251
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-0| J: Louis Steward| T: R M Beckett
8/1
Good deal of promise on debut at Goodwood and was probably flying too high, too soon, when down the field in a hot maiden at the York Ebor meeting. Has been given time to mature and should soon confirm the promise of that debut run.

Forecasts

Hyperactive (2/1), Angelina D'or (6/1), Paco's Prince (6/1), Mercury Rising (13/2), Gripper (8/1), Zilara (8/1), Sweet Charity (12/1), Greaves (16/1), Fleeting Fame (16/1), Honourbound (25/1), Vlannon (66/1), Catheadans Gift (100/1)

14:30 Lingfield - 3 May 2018 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

The market will be the best guide to the chance of the debutants, but one or two of these already boast a fair level of form and the one to be on could be MERCURY RISING, who shaped with lots of promise on debut at Pontefract and looks the type to do much better as a three-year-old. Angelina D'Or sets the standard on form and is feared, while Zilara looked promising on debut last year and should do better as a three-year-old. Sweet Charity likes this venue and can go well again.
