Twice finished second in this before finally landing the prize last year, now a teenager and signs of that catching him up on him, may prove vulnerable this time.

Blue Templarv123
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-7| J: Mr D O'Connor| T: E Bolger| OR:  92
7/4
Not far behind Enniskillen in third last year and perhaps unfortunate not to score Cross Country win here four days later. No run under rules since, but fit from point-to-point run, and should mount a big challenge for Enda Bolger.
3
Horse silk
8/1
Hasn't been spotted under rules since August 2016, did win a point-to-point last month at Durrow and might have followed that up bar an unseat last week. First attempt at this test.

Just Wait And See8
Age: 9|  Weight: 11-7| J: Mr W J Gleeson(7)| T: J F Gleeson| OR:  86| D
16/1
Ran well enough in Hunter Chase at Tramore (2m5f, heavy) this month in going down 10L in fourth of nine. Cannot be discounted with that effort in mind.
5
Horse silk
33/1
Tailed off here in November on sole start under rules, point-to-point winner at Tinahely in January however and needs to really take to this quirky examination.

Age: 10|  Weight: 11-7| J: Mr H D Dunne(5)| T: D P Murphy| D
33/1
No impression in two attempts at this race before (unseated early on last year), didn't shine last month in a point-to-point in preparation for this and overall looks up against it in first-time cheekpieces.
7
Horse silk
66/1
Patchy form in hunter chases and in point-to-points, and isn't one to rely on after recent efforts having finished last of six in Down Royal Hunter Chase last month.
14 attempts in point-to-points without registering a win but has finished close second in his last two, seems unlikely to take front rank on rules bow.
9
Horse silk
9/2
Just six-years-old and won pair of point-to-point at Borris House and Lingstown last month in decent fashion, makes rules bow here and sort to go well in this challenge with tongue tie added.
10
Horse silk
Ballydarsip44
Age: 8|  Weight: 11-0| J: Mr B J Walsh(7)| T: P J Rothwell| OR:  74| D
66/1
Tailed off in this last year as Enniskillen won, form in succession of point-to-points lately doesn't inspire the notion he's about to improve dramatically on that previous C&D effort.
11
Horse silk
Drumlosh Sallie23
Age: 10|  Weight: 11-0| J: L Quinlan(7)| T: John G Carr| D
10/1
Remains a maiden at 10-years-old, sent off 50/1 for mares beginners' chase at Sligo in August but ran well to be second. Ran out in a point-to-point this month when holding every chance and could be capable in this line-up.

Horse silk
Senators Gloryp22
Age: 10|  Weight: 11-0| J: Mr S Fitzgerald(7)| T: S Slevin| D
16/1
One from 17 in point-to-point contests and well held in couple of recent Hunter Chase outings at Fairyhouse and Cork. Could bounce back and not readily dismissed.

Forecasts

Blue Templar (7/4), Vital Island (9/2), Enniskillen (9/2), Festival Opera (8/1), Drumlosh Sallie (10/1), Just Wait And See (16/1), Senators Glory (16/1), Tippinawaynow (20/1), Mia's Milan (33/1), Lighting Tunes (33/1), Sommerton (66/1), Ballydarsi (66/1)

15:40 Punchestown - 24 April 2018 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

BLUE TEMPLAR wasn't far off in this last year and, a year older, he should have strong claims now. Enda Bolger's domination of these races in Britain has been eroded, but he remains the king of these banks and is seeking a seventh win in 11 years in this contest. Vital Island has been in excellent heart in point-to-point and could run well while the likes of Festival Opera and Drumlosh Sallie are to be noted. He may be a teenager now but don't completely discount Enniskillen.
  1. Blue Templar
  2. Vital Island
  3. Festival Opera
