Useful horse on his day and ran well to finishing 6L second in the Welsh Grand National at Chepstow (heavy) in January. Decent effort at Uttoxeter last time and he is one to note in this contest.
Successful over an extended 2m3f at Chepstow (heavy) in January but has struggled in four outings since. Drop in trip should suit having run over 3m4f here last time and wears blinkers for the first time in this.
Placed twice over hurdles earlier this season but held twice in that sphere since having wind surgery. Drop in trip in his favour having finished tenth over 2m7f at Haydock (soft) last time. Wears a tongue tie for the first time.
Sole success came over an extended 2m5f at Sandown (heavy) in March 2016. Some good efforts in defeat since including when fourth over an extended 2m7f at Chepstow (heavy) in December.
Dual winner in staying chases earlier this season including at Wincanton (heavy) over an extended 3m2f in January. Pulled up in marathon contests twice since and this drop in trip should see him in a better light.
Winning for the first time over fences when successful over 3m at Uttoxeter (heavy) last month. Wore cheekpieces for the first time that day and excuses when pulled up after the saddle slipped at Haydock subsequently.
Newbury (soft) winner in first time cheekpieces in January and has finished runner-up the last twice most recently when 11L second at Haydock (soft). Likely to run his race once more.
Successful on soft ground at Sedgefield in February last year and a winner at Worcester (good) in the summer. Well held at Newbury on return to action last month and yard are going well (3/8) at present.
Dual chase winner including here back in December. Won over 3m1f at Hereford (soft) on her penultimate start and interesting to see how she fares on this occasion.
Forecasts
Horatio Hornblower (3/1), Alfie Spinner (7/2), Ballycross (9/2), Behind Time (6/1), Zeroeshadesofgrey (9/1), Pressurize (10/1), Misty Mai (10/1), Dr Robin (16/1), Themanfrom Minella (18/1)
BEHIND TIME had excuses when pulling up at Haydock last time out and he is given another chance in what looks a decent staying chase. The selection impressed when winning at Uttoxeter prior to that and can see off Alfie Spinner who was placed in Graded company on his penultimate outing. Horatio Hornblower has been running well of late and he can record his third consecutive placed effort of the same mark he raced off when finishing runner-up last time.
