Winner over 2m4f here in December off 103, hasn't flourished in three runs since, drops in distance having been tailed off recently at Ayr (2m5½f, soft). Needs to bounce back.

Some signs of promise in two outings at Ayr since late January (both 2m5½f), no guarantee this drop in trip is going to bring about improvement having shaped like a stayer in the making.

Lightly-raced mare but never really got going when trained by Phillip Hobbs and similar tale on recent debut for this handler at Catterick when pulled up. Watching brief advised for now.

Not without promise in trio of novice hurdles since turn of the year over variety of trip, in good hands and improved showing now sent handicapping wouldn't be a major shock.

Bumper winner at Sedgefield a year ago and runner-up on hurdles bow at Ayr over this sort of trip in November. Bit disappointing over further in two subsequent runs, including on handicap bow at Ayr in January (favourite). On a workable mark.

Bumper winner, expensive to follow having placed eight times in 15 starts over timber but failed to win. 5lb higher than when second at Market Rasen this month, should be involved in the finish, though may settle for minor money.

Nothing on her CV either over hurdles (0-8) or on the Flat suggests she'll be playing a leading role in this contest.

Fairly limited ability shown in six starts over hurdles, was campaigning over 3m at Musselburgh late last year without success, drops significantly in distance now. More to find.

Has win in point-to-points but showed little over hurdles/fences when trained in Ireland or in three runs for this yard. Drops back from 3m with it all to prove.

Lightly-raced eight-year-old, no-show at Newcastle last month after 788-days off but more like it since at Hexham (2m, heavy) when 5½L third of five. 4lb lower and not without a chance if building on that effort.

Forecasts

Pixiepot (9/4), Crawfords Mill (3/1), Cockley Beck (7/2), Princess Mononoke (4/1), Our Valentina (6/1), Angel's Envy (10/1), Play Practice (16/1), Dancing Amy (20/1), Avondhu Pearl (33/1), Earth Lady (33/1), Nanacaulsitesker (66/1)

14:50 Carlisle - 31 March 2018 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

COCKLEY BECK was supported on handicap bow at Ayr in January but couldn't deliver. She had previously gone well at Ayr over this sort of trip on hurdles bow and, back in distance, is worth giving another chance to on a better surface. The lightly-raced Play Practice showed some distinct promise at Hexham last time and is worth a look while Dancing Amy, Princess Mononoke and the often-placed Pixiepot are respected.
  1. Cockley Beck
  2. Play Practice
  3. Pixiepot
