Useful sort on the Flat and looked as though he had taken to hurdling with a decent first effort although looks as though better ground will suit (stamina issues). Failed to build on that in two further runs and questions to answer.

Placed in bumpers in the past on quicker ground than this but only limited promise shown in a couple of novice hurdles so far, most recently when tried over 3m. Others more convincing.

A useful stayer for Andrew Balding in his younger days who ran well in defeat over hurdles last year but, all told, it was 2014 when he last had his head in front. Only fourth of six over 2m at Chelmsford (AW) last month.

Beaten wide margins both starts over hurdles so far, latterly around here over 2m4½f on soft ground. Limited appeal for now going down in trip.

8/11
Useful Flat performer in France, left Andre Fabre for €280,000 before being gelded, and supported on hurdling debut in May. Pulled-up after bursting a blood vessel. Much more like it at Chepstow in November, form that looks promising.

Not been sighted for the best part of 600 days and nothing in two prior outings over hurdles to warrant suggestion he'll be featuring prominently.
Winner of nine on the Flat but refused to race on penultimate start and soon gave up the ghost last time. Hard to trust.

Some signs of promise in six races to date. Beaten 19½L into fifth in a six-runner contest over 2m4f at Uttoxeter (good) when last spotted 302 days ago and can only be watched unless money arrives.

Beaten 29L on hurdling debut at Fakenham in December (2m, soft), has won over 1m2f on Chelmsford's AW since but some fairly tame efforts in that sphere more recently. Hard to see him rising in front.

13/2
Didn't show much in two starts for Aidan O'Brien and pulled up over hurdles on debut for this yard but produced a much better effort at Southwell since when romping to victory in a jumpers bumper. Interesting to see if he can improve again.

Decent maiden winner on the Flat, was still in front on hurdles bow at Fakenham last month when coming to grief at three out. Hard to assess that run, hood retained and has some promise at least.

Forecasts

Mahari (8/11), Havana Beat (4/1), Thistimenextyear (6/1), Max Liebermann (13/2), Haasab (20/1), Lazarus (40/1), Royal Marskell (40/1), Bahama Moon (40/1), Little Allstar (66/1), Amble Inn (100/1), Relight The Fire (150/1)

14:30 Huntingdon - 26 March 2018 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

MAHARI was an expensive purchase for connections and, having burst a blood vessel on his first start over timber, he ran with much more purpose at Chepstow in October when just 5L in arrears of Western Ryder. That form looks decent in light of the winners' effort in the Supreme at Cheltenham this month. Thistimenextyear was still going along nicely in front when he fell at Fakenham on hurdles bow and could have a say while Havana Beat, a Listed Flat winner, and Max Liebermann pique some interest for place money.
  1. Mahari
  2. Thistimenextyear
  3. Max Liebermann
