Has been making a name for himself at Sedgefield, winning over both 2m3½f and 2m5f (both soft) and going close following a 17lb rise last time. Nudged up a further 1lb now and while not ruled out, he needs some improvement over this longer trip.

Not managed to add to his three novices' hurdles wins in 2016. Beaten twice over fences as favourite last year, he returned to this discipline with more promise last month. Pulled up last time (heavy) but not ruled out on this better ground.

5lb higher than when scoring at Wetherby (3m, good to soft) in November and ran well from slightly higher marks than this on his next two runs. Has failed to complete last twice, but not dismissed if he puts in a clear round.

Won an Ayr maiden hurdle (2m5½f, soft) about two years ago and stays 3m2½f over fences. Was not far away at Ayr from today's mark two starts ago and enters calculations if running to that level again here.

Scored on good to soft at Catterick (2m3½f) over hurdles in November from 4lb lower. Unable to repeat that effort in three runs since. No chasing pedigree to draw upon and stamina also a concern, so perhaps best watched on chase debut.

Was dropped 9lb after his chase debut and made the most of that when an 11L winner at Wetherby (2m5½f, heavy) on Tuesday. Carries a penalty for that, but plenty to like about how he did it and he looks to have decent claims of following up.

Improved on his Kelso chase debut when stepped up to 2m3f (soft) at Doncaster in January, where he finished 1L second from a mark of 96. Nudged up 2lb but is being given time and sufficient signposts in his pedigree that he will get this trip.

Forecasts

Allmyown (5/4), Blakerigg (5/1), Rainy City (6/1), Golden Investment (6/1), Shanroe Street (8/1), Instant Replay (9/1), Romulus Du Donjon (33/1)

17:10 Carlisle - 25 March 2018 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

Several in here could fancy their chances but ALLMYOWN's win at Wetherby on Tuesday was by a wide margin and aside from the testing ground, he could certainly have endured a tougher race. Therefore, he is taken to complete a quickfire double under his 7lb penalty. The handicapper appeared to have caught up with Instant Replay last time, but he is still young and more improvement is not ruled out by either he or Rainy City. Shanroe Street is on the short-list, while Blakerigg surely still has better days ahead and is considered.
  1. Allmyown
  2. Blakerigg
  3. Shanroe Street
