Penalised for his Southwell success in January (1m), but his pedigree implies that this extra yardage will see him in an even more positive light (dam a 1m1f winner). First experience of Tapeta in a very winnable contest.

Cost €130,000 as a yearling, but he's proved disappointing on track so far (turf and AW). However, it's still early days and we'll see how he handles this longer trip on his first start for almost five months.

Unraced seventh foal by First Defence out of Fanzine. Cost 22,000 gns as a yearling, and represents a trainer/jockey combination with a healthy strike rate at this track. Half-brother to three winners including Tetbury (1m4f).

Half-sister to four winners, including Irish 1m AW scorer Glassatura. Not shone on the racecourse in either appearance, including when finishing well behind tonight's rival Bobby K on debut at Southwell (1m) in January.

Daughter of Nathaniel out of a 1m Fibresand/1m4f Polytrack winning mare (Battery Power). Belied her odds of 66/1 on debut when finishing just over 3L runner up to the reasonably talented Lumi here last month (1m). Step up in trip helpful.

18:05 Newcastle - 20 March 2018 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

Bobby K set the benchmark for the others to aim towards when scoring at Southwell on his penultimate start, and whilst he's run well since at Lingfield, he does have a penalty to carry on his first try over 1m2f. Velvet Vision is entitled to step forward from his debut effort, with his conqueror Lumi running another solid race at this track last week, but a chance is taken on the Kevin Ryan trained newcomer ZARJAZ. The market will undoubtedly provide the necessary clues with regards his winning chance, but the Ryan/Stott partnership is always respected at Newcastle and this First Defence gelding has both speed (7f) and stamina (1m4f) influences in his pedigree.
  1. Zarjaz
  2. Velvet Vision
  3. Bobby K
