Achill Road Boy29
Age: 9|  Weight: 11-12| J: Sam Coltherd(5)| T: W Coltherd| OR:  97| CD
4/1
Hasn't won over fences since December 2016 (2m5f+ at Ayr), but does boast a Hexham hurdles success on his CV on this very day in 2017 (2m4f). Handicapped to go close if in the correct frame of mind.

Age: 7|  Weight: 11-8| J: S Mulqueen(3)| T: Miss Lucinda V Russell| OR:  93| CD
11/2
Beat the reluctant Under The Red Sky by 5L over C&D in March 2017, and a return to Hexham might be the order of the day. Truthfully, his fencing isn't the greatest, but has a definite chance off just 2lb higher.

Cant Pay Wont Payp50
Age: 10|  Weight: 11-0| J: Mr D Delahunt(7)| T: R Dobbin| OR:  85
10/1
Dual point-to-point scorer who also won under rules in Ireland when trained by Mark Fahey (2m7f+ good). Fallen 11lb in the weights since joining this stable, and that's clearly most helpful.

Brown Trixp,t25
Age: 8|  Weight: 10-11| J: James Davies| T: S England| OR:  82| D
11/4
Driven out to defeat Under The Red Sky by 1½L at Newcastle on his penultimate start (2m4f soft), but broke a blood vessel when upped to 3m at Market Rasen latest (3lb higher), and that's worrying considering the forecast ground conditions.

Age: 11|  Weight: 10-10| J: Grant Cockburn(3)| T: Mrs L B Normile| OR:  81| D
5/1
Beaten just shy of 4L when finishing third to Brown Trix at Newcastle last month (2m4f soft) and better off at the weights today, so theoretically has every chance of a reversal. However, a career record of 1 from 26 tempers enthusiasm.

Major Ridgep150
Age: 9|  Weight: 10-10| J: Miss Becky Smith(7)| T: Micky Hammond| OR:  81
8/1
Totally lost his way since scoring at Catterick in January 2017 (3m1f good to soft), and whilst the stable are going well, all hopes are surely pinned on the first time cheek-pieces working the oracle.

Mr Witmoreb7
Age: 8|  Weight: 10-7| J: Henry Brooke| T: Kenny Johnson| OR:  78
10/1
A 24-race maiden, and that speaks volumes overall. Travelled into contention well at Carlisle last week, but out-battled from the last by the 4½L winner Asking Questions.

Horse silk
Court Painter7
Age: 8|  Weight: 10-4| J: Thomas Dowson(3)| T: V Thompson| OR:  75| D
16/1
An eight race rules maiden who finished in a different parish well behind Mr Witmore at Carlisle last week. Next to no chance on that evidence.

Forecasts

Brown Trix (11/4), Achill Road Boy (4/1), Silverton (5/1), Orioninverness (11/2), Major Ridge (8/1), Mr Witmore (10/1), Cant Pay Wont Pay (10/1), Court Painter (16/1)

17:05 Hexham - 15 March 2018 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

Some very infrequent winners at the foot of the weights, so you don't really need to stray too far from the top of the list for the most likely winner, further more so with February's Newcastle scorer Brown Trix seeking to bounce back after breaking a blood vessel at Market Rasen latest. ACHILL ROAD BOY was a winner over hurdles here on this day last year, and is well-weighted over fences if electing to put his best foot forward. He rates as the selection with nagging doubts about the fencing prowess of Orioninverness, and it could be the increasingly well handicapped Rose Dobbin trained Can't Pay Won't Pay who fills the runner-up berth.
