Former winner returned from layoff/gelding operation with a fairly pleasing run over this trip last month (third). Should have more to offer with that behind him and one for the shortlist.

Fair maiden who looks to have a stiff mark in handicaps although he's not be disgraced in this sphere. Bit to find with International Law and Trooper's Gold on recent C&D form and likely needs to drop in ratings.

Narrow winner over C&D early last month (Trooper's Gold third) but not able to replicate form from 4lb higher mark since. Vulnerable to improved effort from re-opposing rival in any case.

Well held in both runs over C&D for his yard and 0-4 on AW thus far, may have needed run last month over C&D but hard to see him getting head in front this evening.

A well-beaten second over C&D 55 days ago but still ran fairly encouragingly. On the same mark again but may have a handicap victory in him off this weight. Blinkers applied.

C&D winner who likes this place, figures of 16212 over the last 12 months. Returns from a break 1lb lower than when runner-up in similar event in November and bears consideration.

Most effective on Tapeta and is a dual course winner. Tried a variety of trips lately (7f to 1m4f), and it's hard to say exactly what those experiments were about given we already seem to know what suits him best. Place claims back up in trip.

Capable sort, not exactly firing in four runs over the winter, two over C&D in November. Back down in trip and mark has slipped to a potentially useful one.

Standing dish here over the winter, with one win and several decent efforts from seven runs. Best of those have come over 7f, but not discounted now returned from short break having run poorly in December.

Just the one strike in 31 attempts, did run well over 7f here last month (narrow second) but not as good since at Wolverhampton. Could find the frame with repeat of penultimate effort back over the mile.

Forecasts

Nick Vedder (11/4), Trooper's Gold (11/4), Rey Loopy (4/1), Gun Case (10/1), Rockwood (14/1), Bob Maxwell (14/1), International Law (16/1), Archipeligo (18/1), Rockley Point (20/1), Zeshov (80/1)

19:15 Newcastle - 13 March 2018 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

TROOPER'S GOLD ran a decent race here on his return from nine months away and being gelded when finishing third behind International Law. That rival didn't fare so well next time out and he's vulnerable now. Kevin Ryan's charge should be fitter and can take the spoils. Rey Loopy goes well here and has to be considered while Archipeligo, Gun Case and Rockwood are considered for the minors.
  1. Trooper's Gold
  2. Rey Loopy
  3. Gun Case
