Almost a year since he scored over 3m at Wetherby (good to soft) from 6lb lower. Aside from his Ayr fall, he has run to that level of form on both completed starts since, so is going to need to find some improvement to add to that success.
Relishes this sort of test and stays much further. Was doing his best work late on over C&D (heavy) last time when racing from this mark and hints that his next win is not too far away, but he will need to find a bit more to produce it.
Scored over C&D (soft) in a novices' handicap almost two years ago. Has only been able to get close to that form once since, at Ffos Las in March last year. Certainly back on a very handy mark, though a bit to prove and has not yet won in headgear.
Stays well and acts on soft ground, though yet to race on heavy. Placed in three of his eight runs under rules, including when 12L second at Taunton (2m7f) last time. On same mark today, so needs to raise things a notch to break his duck.
Both his wins have been on heavy ground, so conditions appear to be ideal for this gelding, whose chase form has not yet reached his best over hurdles. Ran well over C&D in November (in first-time visor) and is interesting from 6lb lower here.
Rolled back the years with a C&D win (soft) in November, when 6lb lower. Continues to perform with credit, though may need a further nudge downwards in the handicap before he is able to win again.
Scored here over this trip when hurdling and proved that he gets 3m2½f when winning at Newton Abbot in that sphere. Handles heavy ground and now just 1lb higher than his last win and back up in trip he looks to have a squeak here.
Scored over C&D way back in 2013 and was recording his only win since at Uttoxeter in December, when 7lb lower. Loves testing ground, but not been able to reproduce that effort in two starts over fences/hurdles since. Each-way claims.
Has done most of his running at Ffos Las, where he has recorded both his wins. Stays 3m in heavy ground and is just 2lb higher than when scoring in December. Bit to prove after his latest run but not dismissed lightly.

An interesting contest where the suggestion is SUTTER'S MILL. Evan Williams' charge stays further than this, which is positive given the testing conditions, while he is close to a winning mark and open to improvement over fences after just one chase run. The return to a longer trip is also taken as a plus. Alf 'n' Dor has the going to suit and after going well in headgear here in November, he could repeat that with blinkers now on for the first time and a drop in the ratings. Steel Native, Allchilledout, Thedrinkymeister and Catching On are all respected in opposition.
