£29,000 newcomer by Montmartre out of a 1m1½f winning French dam. Trainer has occasional bumper winners so market best guide to expectations.

Dual placed in point-to-points and cost current connections €140,000 in April. Trainer always prolific in bumpers and took this contest last year. Looks a leading player on rules debut.
3

€8,500 three-year old by Court Cave and half-brother to a point-to-point winner. Others have more obvious pedigrees but trainer does particularly well in bumpers and is in fine form so not dismissed.

Age: 4|  Weight: 10-12| J: G Sheehan| T: W Greatrex
10/1
Lone runner in the field to run under rules. Beaten 18½L when finishing fifth of 11 in a bumper at Ffos Las on good ground on debut last April . Subject of good support in the betting on that occasion and an interesting runner in this.

€70,000 three year old purchase by little known French sire Fuisse who is a moderate flat sire. One of two debutants for Nicky Henderson who is prolific in bumpers but Burrows Edge has more obvious claims.
€11,000 yearling by King George winner Doyen out of a 3m hurdle winner and from a solid jumps family. Trainer has occasional bumper winners but making a slow start this season. May need further in time.

Gelding by top jumps sire Presenting out of an unraced dam related to several jumps winners. Trainer does well enough in bumpers to keep an eye on him in the market.

Only showed ordinary form in three point-to-points to date. Former jumps jockey yet to have a bumper winner as a trainer albeit he's only had 17 runners.

€13,000 gelding by Derby third Let The Lion Roar is a full-brother to a winner of a bumper, hurdle and chase at up to 3m. Trainer rapidly ascending and started season well so worthy of a market check.

Sojournt1
Age: 4|  Weight: 10-12| J: David Noonan| T: A J Honeyball
12/1
Getaway newcomer out of an unraced half-sister to classy chaser Exmoor Ranger. Small yard does well in bumpers so market support would be worth noting.
12
Horse silk
16/1
€30,000 three year old by Milan. Brother to a point-to-point winner from an out and out jumps family. Trainer has occasional bumper winners but not as prolific as most trainers involved here.
13
Horse silk
14/1
Very stoutly bred newcomer by Kayf Tara out of high class mare Marello. Related to four jumps winners at up to 3m1f. Jockey booking catches the eye so worth a glance in the market.
14
Horse silk
6/1
€35,000 three-year old buy is a son of Galileo's brother Black Sam Bellamy. Dam's first three progeny all won under NH rules and trainer won four of eight bumpers this season so looks a likely candidate.
15
Horse silk
33/1
Bought for £24,000 after finishing second in a Tralee point-to-point over 3m. Trainer 0 from 22 in bumpers last five years so not one of appeal here.

Horse silk
12/1
Debutant by Rail Link is a half-brother to a point-to-point and 2m4f hurdle winner from an unraced jumps bred dam. Trainer now known for bumper winners so best watched barring significant market support.

15:55 Newbury - 9 November 2017 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

A very interesting early season bumper with the majority of the top yards represented so there is every likelihood that the winner will need to be smart. The most appealing claims belong to expensive purchase BURROWS EDGE, one of two runners for Nicky Henderson. He showed smart from in point-to-points and looks an exciting prospect. The market usually offers clues in these races but of the newcomers the most appealing is Philip Hobbs' Tidal Flow particularly given the yard's start to this season in bumpers. Also high on the list of likely newcomers is Irish Prince for the Pipe team.
  1. Burrows Edge
  2. Tidal Flow
  3. Irish Prince
