Beaten 1¾L by Canford Chimes in a 1m5½f Fontwell bumper on debut in May. Didn't appear to know quite what was expected of him in the closing stages, and wiser for that experience, but in a stronger contest.

€44,000 purchase who is closely related to Mischievous Millie and Robinesse (both winners for this trainer). Offered promise for the future on debut at Warwick in May (good), when 2¼L second to Paddy Boss.
Not quite strong enough in the closing stages on debut (weakened) when finishing just under 6L fourth to Kateson (2m good, Chepstow). This less demanding track is a plus, and his dam was a half-sister to bumper winner Get Me Out Of Here.

16/1
Cost £16,000 as a three-year-old (€9,200 foal). Unraced second foal by Scorpion out of a moderate dam (Sea Maiden). His dam was a sister to 2m3f-3m hurdle/chase winner Calusa Caldera, so likely to be stronger with time and distance.
Unraced ninth foal by Kayf Tara out of Aphrodisias. Cost £34,000 as a three-year-old and is closely related to point-to-point winner Dunraven Doc, as well as being a half-brother to three other winners.

Horse silk
11/2
Unraced third foal by Yeats out of Monsignorita (from the family of Monsignor). Closely related to point-to-point winner Face To Face.

Forecasts

Saturdaynightfever (7/4), Jersey Bean (15/8), Kateson (3/1), Nocturnal Myth (5/1), Soldier Of Love (11/2), Airtight (6/1), Seaston Spirit (16/1), Scorpion Haze (16/1)

KATESON has a penalty to carry for his debut success at Chepstow last month, and he's probably no absolute certainty to confirm placings with the Fergal O'Brien trained Saturdaynightfever (fourth), but it's most likely telling that with Richard Johnson unavailable this afternoon, Tom Lacey has opted for the next best available man in the saddle. A number of these runners are more than capable of building upon their debut efforts, and for that reason, it'll be a major surprise if any of the four newcomers are sharp enough for success.
  1. Kateson
  2. Saturdaynightfever
  3. Jersey Bean
