January foal. By Mizzen Mast and a half-brother to the useful 1m winner Asaas. Yard well capable of readying a newcomer to win first time, so has to be of interest.

Sent off favourite when finishing third of four over 6f at Hamilton (good-to-soft) back in June. Lengthy subsequent absence suggests issues but bred to appreciate this longer trip and dangerous to dismiss.

Green initially on his debut over 1m at Leicester but ultimately ran on to finish an eye-catching fifth. Sure to come on for that experience and, being a half-brother to a dirt winner, the AW is likely to suit. Respected.

Sent off at 66-1 when well behind on his debut at Kempton and took a step backwards at Nottingham (1m, good to soft) next time when ninth of 10. Looks a longer-term prospect.

March foal. By Teofilo and a half-brother to useful 1m4f winner Cap Verite. Will probably want further in time but a market move would be interesting.

Laieth20
Age: 2|  Weight: 9-2| J: P Cosgrave| T: S bin Suroor
8/15
A son of Dubawi who fetched 550,000 guineas as a yearling but could only manage fourth place on his debut over 7f at Kempton. For all that it's hard to envisage him living up to his price-tag, he's an obvious player in this company.

Forecasts

Laieth (8/15), Escalator (4/1), Alpine Peak (9/1), Arch Gold (10/1), Grecian Spirit (22/1), Feragust (100/1)

17:10 Wolverhampton - 31 October 2017 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

Though the beautifully-bred LAIETH didn't come close to living up to a 550,000 guineas price-tag on his debut over 7f at Kempton, his opening effort did suggest an ordinary event of this nature would be within range, particularly with this extra furlong sure to suit. That said, Escalator shaped with similar promise first time out at Leicester and is bound to come on for that experience. With neither looking bombproof, a market move for either of the newcomers would be interesting.
  1. Laieth
  2. Escalator
  3. Alpine Peak
