Oscar O'scarp139
Age: 9|  Weight: 12-3| J: Mr Joe Wright(7)| T: Micky Hammond| OR:  107| C
8/1
Scored here over slightly shorter last year and goes into this race 5lb lower than his only other success (both on good to soft). Was not far away over C&D from 4lb higher in the spring and has to be taken seriously.

Horse silk
Amuse Me189
Age: 11|  Weight: 12-3| J: Mitchell Bastyan(7)| T: James Moffatt| OR:  107| C| D
6/1
Needs fast ground to be at his best, as was the case with his C&D win some years ago. Recent evidence also suggests that in addition to the going, he is in the grip of the handicapper at present.

Age: 9|  Weight: 12-3| J: Dale Irving(3)| T: M A Barnes| OR:  107| D

All his wins have been with cut in the ground and over shorter trips and you have to go back almost two years to find the last of them. Is on a handy mark when considering that form, but not easy to fancy with such stamina concerns.

Chain Of Beaconst181
Age: 8|  Weight: 12-2| J: Callum Bewley(3)| T: K Scott| OR:  106
14/1
His better form has been over shorter and his only win came over 2m½f at Newcastle in April. Changed hands since last run and shown he can be competitive from this mark, though trip may still see him out of his comfort zone.
5
Horse silk
Captain Mowbray22
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-12| J: Tony Kelly| T: R Menzies| OR:  102
10/3
Maiden after 19 starts and frustrating to follow. Best effort came at Hexham in June (2m4f, good), though may well have won but for falling at the last here over 2m3½f last time. Back up 3lb and chance may have gone that day.
6
Horse silk
Brother Scott22
Age: 10|  Weight: 11-9| J: Sean Quinlan| T: B Butterworth| OR:  99| C| D
10/1
Won back-to-back races over this trip at Cartmel for Sue Smith in the summer and has twice gone well in defeat here since joining current yard. May do better than last time now back up in trip, but task no easier after another 1lb rise.
7
Horse silk
Ever So Muchp22
Age: 8|  Weight: 11-5| J: R P McLernon| T: B Haslam| OR:  95| C| D
5/1
Goes well here and sees out this trip on good ground. Powers have been in steady decline for well over a year and was beaten 10½L from today's mark in a handicap hurdle (2m4f) here last time. Not easy to see him coming good today.

Horse silk
Rosquerob,h,t17
Age: 12|  Weight: 11-4| J: William Clarke(7)| T: Kenny Johnson| OR:  94| D
25/1
Scored over a similar trip at Wetherby (good) in spring 2016 when 3lb lower and was not far off repeating that from 9lb higher in April. Not the easiest to win with but now back on a very competitive mark, plus his rider's claim. Not ruled out.
9
Horse silk
Sweet Bellep22
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-4| J: Nathan Moscrop(5)| T: D Thompson| OR:  94| C
40/1
Likes it here and won over 3m2½f (good) in April when 6lb lower. Well held on both starts elsewhere since then. Could do better now back here, though concern that handicapper is in control and also over this shorter trip.

Horse silk
Roxyfetp11
Age: 7|  Weight: 10-11| J: Finian O'Toole(5)| T: Micky Hammond| OR:  87| C
33/1
Another course specialist, with four or his five British wins being around here. All three over fences have been at 2m½f, though he did score over 2m3f at Catterick last year, but clear stamina doubts, although back on a handy mark.
11
Horse silk
Knocknamona11
Age: 6|  Weight: 10-9| J: Alain Cawley| T: Micky Hammond| OR:  85| D
33/1
Sole success was in a Newcastle handicap hurdle (2m4½f, heavy) in March from 5lb lower. Unfortunate to clip heels and fall without making it to the first fence on his Hexham chase debut and looks one to watch this time.
12
Horse silk
Robins Legendb111
Age: 5|  Weight: 10-5| J: B S Hughes| T: C Grant| OR:  81
6/1
Maiden over hurdles, where he made the frame over 3m at Musselburgh in January. Pulled up on heavy ground in same Hexham race at Knocknamona on chase debut (20-1) earlier in the month, but could do better on this sound surface.
13
Horse silk
Coote Street262
Age: 9|  Weight: 10-0| J: R D Day(3)| T: F Jestin| OR:  60
80/1
Point-to-point winner who was beaten 50L on the only chase that he has completed from three attempts. Out of the handicap here and his form figures suggest that getting around will be an achievement.

Forecasts

Captain Mowbray (10/3), Ever So Much (5/1), Robins Legend (6/1), Amuse Me (6/1), Oscar O'scar (8/1), Brother Scott (10/1), Indian Voyage (11/1), Chain Of Beacons (14/1), Rosquero (25/1), Knocknamona (33/1), Roxyfet (33/1), Sweet Belle (40/1), Coote Street (80/1)

14:35 Sedgefield - 25 October 2017 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

Oscar O'scar goes well here and should be capable of having a say in the closing stages again, while Rosquero is back on the sort of mark from which he can again get competitive. Brother Scott and Captain Mowbray are others with a chance of picking up some prize money, while the same goes for Roxyfet, though there are definite concerns over his stamina. Instead, a chance is taken on ROBINS LEGEND, who stays further than this over hurdles and could do much better than on his chase debut at Hexham now that he races on better ground.
  1. Robins Legend
  2. Oscar O'scar
  3. Captain Mowbray
