Started off well last season in juvenile hurdles, but not quite able to compete in stronger company later in the year. Finished down the field in the Fred Winter at Cheltenham in March, and 9¾L third to Call Me Lord at Sandown in April.

Galloped his rivals into the ground when winning at Stratford last month on just his second start over hurdles. Unable to follow up when beaten 2L by Amour De Nuit at Newton Abbot subsequently, but with fitness assured, he now switches to handicaps.

Unbeaten in three starts over hurdles since switched from the Flat (Roger Varian) for 55,000 gns. No knocking those Stratford, Kempton and Newton Abbot successes, but this is a much tougher assignment and off since May, she might just need the race.

9/2
French import who met his fair share of useful rivals last term, including when a 3L runner up to Don Bersy at Warwick in January (2m soft). He rounded off the campaign by finishing eighth of 22 in the Fred Winter at Cheltenham in March.

9/2
His sole hurdles success came in a 2m½f Taunton novices event in January, and despite finishing sixth of 22 in the Fred Winter at Cheltenham in March, he was found wanting a fraction overall. Has had the fitness benefit of a recent Flat start.

Landed the odds in his last three races (at Kelso and Stratford twice) and arrives seeking the four timer. However, this is tougher (handicap debut) and he was beaten into fourth (11½L) by Talent To Amuse on his hurdles debut at Newton Abbot in May.

Went from strength to strength after leaving Ann Duffield and bolted up on each of his first two starts for this trainer (Taunton and Musselburgh) despite a savage hike in the weights. Ascot form to reverse with Dolos and Percy Street.

40/1
Highly tried in a Grade 2 juvenile hurdle (Adonis) at Kempton on stable debut in February, this former French racer is again thrown in at the deep end on his handicap debut. Well suited by deep ground, and tough to consider.

Dinsdale11
Age: 4|  Weight: 10-9| J: L Treadwell| T: M Scudamore| OR:  120| D
16/1
Took a Newbury juvenile hurdle by 1¼L in March (2m+soft) and not disgraced subsequently when upped in trip (2m3f) in a class 2 handicap at the same track. Needs more against these rivals, but did have a spin on the AW at Kempton earlier this month.

Forecasts

Dolos (4/1), Dino Velvet (9/2), Percy Street (9/2), Flashing Glance (6/1), Champagne City (7/1), Silver Streak (10/1), Talent To Amuse (11/1), Dinsdale (16/1), Fidux (20/1), Ibleo (40/1)

15:35 Chepstow - 14 October 2017 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

A competitive contest, and not all that much to choose between a number of the runners. Percy Street (sixth) came out best of those to contest the Grade 3 Fred Winter Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival in March, and has the benefit of a recent run on the Flat. Dolos was further back in that contest (13th), but bounced back to form thereafter and commands respect given his trainers fine record in this race, and most likely has the better of Fidux. Champagne City is fast improving, but this is altogether tougher, whilst Talent To Amuse might just need this race in order to strip fitter. Therefore, a token selection is for the Alan King trained DINO VELVET. He hasn't been over-raced, and his mark is probably a fair one for his return to action.
  1. Dino Velvet
  2. Dolos
  3. Champagne City
