Remains 1lb higher than his most recent win at Nottingham in June. Was runner-up in a C&D seller this time last year, acts with cut in the ground and should be competitive, although he has yet to win in headgear.
Scored here over 1m (good to firm) in a handicap in May when 5lb lower and followed up over this trip at Ripon (good) next time. Handicapper has had his measure since then so now dropped into this grade in first-time headgear. Not ruled out.
His last win was almost two years ago over C&D (soft) in a much better race than this. Has plummeted in the weights since, but you don't have to go back far on his CV to see competitive efforts from higher marks. Claims if running to his ability.
Both his wins were at around 1m and he has not yet convinced that he gets home over this far in a true run race. Drops into this grade for the first time and has the ability to get involved, though also has to prove he handles this ground.
Both of his wins were on Dundalk's All Weather track and he is 0-16 on turf. Has not made an impact all year in handicaps and remains impossible to recommend at these weights in selling company.
0-8 so far and now tries this company for the first time. Put up a reasonable effort at Carlisle (1m3f, heavy) last time out, but will need more than that to be breaking his duck today. Cheek pieces now applied.
Made the frame in a couple of handicaps over 1m1f/1m2f from marks in the mid-50s earlier in the campaign, though form has tailed off since. Well held in a classified contest last time and his form does not looks strong enough to win this.
0-8 so far and well beaten on his last two runs since joining this stable, including when beaten 11L when stepped up to this trip at Pontefract last month. Hard to enthuse about his chance at these weights.
Another with a 0-8 record to date and one who has failed to trouble the leaders on any occasion this term. Dropped 4lb after her latest selling handicap run at Brighton and others makes more appeal.
Yet to win in 20 starts, but would have an each-way squeak if she could perform up to the level of her form at either Musselburgh in May or Thirsk last month. Has stamina to prove, though pedigree suggests that she can see it out.
Forecasts
Miningrocks (1/1), Maraakib (5/2), Rita's Man (7/1), Ritasun (14/1), Leopard (14/1), Lady Volante (20/1), Urban Spirit (33/1), Kitsey (50/1), Whip Up A Frenzy (50/1), Siyahamba (100/1)
Miningrocks must have very solid claims going into this, though it is definitely a concern that headgear has not really been effective on him so far, therefore he is taken on with RITA'S MAN, who sports headgear for the first time. Maraakib would be more attractive if you could be confident that he will run to his current ability, while Ritasun and Lady Volante are others that merit closer inspection.
