Successful on his Doncaster debut (7f, good) when making smooth headway after a slow start and then idling close home. Recorded a good time and there should be a lot more to come, though encounters very different ground.
A brother to a 7f winner Aimez La Vie, he has made a reasonable start to his career, finishing mid-division in a couple of 7f maidens at Beverley and Thirsk. Appears to lack the short-term promise of his stablemate, however.
Considering he cost 420,000 guineas, it was a shade disappointing to see this one only finish fourth of eight in a maiden at Sandown (7f, good to soft) on his debut. Still early days and likely to have that form behind.
Nothing special on pedigree and ran accordingly when down the field in a 1m maiden here (good to soft) on his debut, going off at 100/1. Not hard to overlook.
A half-brother to several winners with plenty of stamina in the pedigree and just looked short of pace when a 5L fifth at Beverley (7f, good to firm) on his debut. Slower ground over an extra furlong should see improvement.
His debut effort on good to soft ground here (7f) offered more promise than what he showed on a quicker surface at Beverley next time out. No surprise to see him run well in these conditions.
May foal who cost 65,000 guineas as a yearling. A half-brother to three winners, including the 1m2f scorer Contradict, so equipped to handle the test of stamina this will provide on his debut.
Forecasts
Bold Reason (2/1), Narcos (2/1), Real Gent (3/1), A Bit of A Touch (10/1), Skito Soldier (14/1), Spark Of War (20/1), Creel (50/1)
NARCOS created a good impression when winning at Doncaster first time out and could easily make light work of defying a penalty in this company, providing he handles the testing conditions. That said, it's hard to believe there isn't much more to come from expensive purchase Bold Reason whilst Skitco Soldier's debut effort in the mud on this course wasn't devoid of promise.
