Sole success in 10 chase starts came over C&D in September 2015, not in great form in two runs over hurdles this summer and doesn't appear well handicapped for return to this sphere.

Peak rating of 153 over fences for Nicky Henderson, but became a source of frustration before switching to this yard. Trainer is a master of turning things around in these circumstances, worth a look in the betting but might take some time.

Just denied in the Topham at Aintree in the spring when last spotted, has fitness to prove on return but repeat of that effort would make him hard to beat.

Both wins over fences have come at Galway, stamina shouldn't be an issue, but has to bounce back having pulled up last time at Kilbeggan over the trip.

Won over the trip at Down Royal in May 2016, faller on sole subsequent chase start and out of form over hurdles latest. Tongue tie added now.

Not the most consistent sort but knows where the winning post is when in the mood. Two of previous three runs have been rock solid and will be bang there if first-time blinkers have desired effect.

Disappointing in two starts since winning at Downpatrick (good) over an extended 2m7f in June and beaten 49L at Tramore (yielding) last time out. Needs to return to form if he's to take this.

Well held in eight starts since winning over 2m2f at Gowran Park (yielding) in October 2014 and probably best watched again here.

Wins have all come beyond 3m, wants a thorough test of stamina and may not get that here on return from a break. Likely to be other targets in store.

Close second over 2m1f at Killarney last month, solid credentials on that evidence with this longer trip likely to suit better.

Unreliable character, failing to complete in five of previous six starts, tongue strap on first-time now but not one to go to war with.

Forecasts

Katnap (7/2), The Winkler (9/2), Whatareudoingtome (6/1), Hash Brown (6/1), Chief Of Panama (7/1), Hurricane Darwin (8/1), My Hometown (14/1), Benemeade (14/1), Cocktails At Dawn (14/1), Jarob (20/1), Cecil Corbett (20/1)

16:40 Navan - 23 September 2017 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

KATNAP's second in the Topham at Aintree reads remarkably well in the context of this race and if Joseph O'Brien's charge is straight for this return to action, he should take some beating. Any lack of sharpness can be exposed by Killarney runner-up The Winkler. He isn't the most reliable but has put in two good shows from his previous three. Ex-Nicky Henderson inmate Cocktails At Dawn is an intriguing runner on first start for Gordon Elliot, and any market confidence would be notable.
