Took advantage of a drop in the weights to win over 1m4f at Ascot in the Shergar Cup and followed up that win with another over the same C&D recently off a 3lb higher mark. Still making this most of his fall in the weights though and back off a higher mark now.

Completed a York handicap hat-trick under this rider on his penultimate start underlining his love for that track. Wasn't in the same form last time out away from York (at Newmarket) and unable to lead turned in an indifferent performance (looked awkward).

Without a win this year and with just one decent performance to her name over 1m4f and faces a longer trip here although it should pay to forgive her last run when little went right. Cheekpieces are now off and the mark continues to slide but more needed.

Did well to win on his handicap debut at Haydock (found plenty after stumbling) over this trip following up a Chepstow maiden win. Has run with credit in two starts since at Chester (needed stronger gallop) and in a Listed Goodwood contest (ran too free).

In better and winning form last year and although he's run with credit this year he's found it hard to match that form. The move up to this trip isn't an obvious move but his form looks to have rather reached a plateau with the handicapper maintain his grip.

Well backed on his reappearance (handicap debut) at York he got off the mark after a break over 1m4f. The Queens Vase proved too much for him but he looked as though he might need this trip when second to Great Hall last time (didn't do anything quickly).

Scored a rare win for this yard in a Carlisle maiden and then made a good fist of his handicap debut over this trip at Sandown (mark looked handy). A little below that form last time out when looking laboured in a 2m AW handicap and now tried in blinkers.

Typically for one from this yard he's being kept busy although ne may well look in need of a break soon. His most recent run at Musselburgh merely showing that he stays this trip without looking to have much in the way of a change of pace and others look better.

Forecasts

Alqamar (9/4), Zenon (4/1), Nadaitak (6/1), William Hunter (7/1), Theydon Grey (7/1), Star Of The East (9/1), Great Hall (11/1), Cliff Face (20/1)

16:10 Yarmouth - 21 September 2017 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

The best contest on the card and with a trio of the three-year-olds trying new headgear for the first time. One of those ZENON may well prove to be the pick here having been highly tried last time out and he will be happier back in handicap company. Alqamar also gets to try some new headgear with blinkers now tried as he faces old rival Great Hall again and he’s marginally better off at the weights with this trip expected to suit. The only female in the field Cliff Face has yet to spark really this year and Theydon Grey might not be as effective away from his beloved York. Nadaitak is also tried in blinkers for the first time and although he’s guaranteed to stay this trip some of the others might just have a bit too much pace for him.
  1. Zenon
  2. Alqamar
  3. Nadaitak
