Consistent without winning in eleven starts since scoring over this trip at Musselburgh in June 2016 (good). Needs to find just a fraction more to break the stranglehold of the assessor.

Useful performer on his day, and goes particularly well on the Knavesmire at York. However, hasn't won for some considerable time now (August 2013), and a couple of recent runner up efforts (Thirsk) probably need improving upon.

Yet to race on ground softer than good to soft, so any further significant rainfall would raise question marks. Furthermore, both of his career successes have come over 6f, and he lacks much in the way of experience over 5f.

A close third in this race to Expose in 2014 (rated 81), and winner in 2016 (rated 82) beating Tylery Wonder by a head. Winner in his group (fifth overall) in the 6f Ripon Silver Trophy latest and handicapped to run a solid race.

Runner up to Singeur in this race in 2016, and opened up this particular turf campaign with a solid third over C&D in April. Up and down since then, including winning at York in July, but on a winnable mark.

Improved during the latter half of the season, and has now won three times since mid July, including twice at this track (5f and 6f). Climbing the weights but versatile in terms of ground, and only caught close home off this mark at Ripon last week.

Won twice over this trip on the AW at Dundalk for Dermot Weld during 2016, but moved on earlier in the year and yet to threaten in two goes for this stable. Dropping in the weights but a six race maiden on turf.

Shown nothing like his form from last back-end in four starts in 2017, but predictably his mark has taken a hit and he's now far more attractively treated. Not tested on deep ground, but stable continue in fine form.

Consistent but proved difficult to win with over the winter on the AW, and has moved stables frequently since January (David Barron, Jose Santos, Chris Dwyer). Now back with one of her previous trainers, but others preferred.

Kept on strongly to repel a couple of subsequent winners (Landing Night and Mininggold) at Catterick last month (5f good), so a 6lb rise seems more than fair. Softer ground would be a concern, but his C&D fourth from July also looks respectable.

Not won since April (5f good to firm) when dead-heating with Black Grass at Ripon, but now finds himself on a 5lb lower mark. Beaten narrowly by Showdaisy on good to soft at Ayr (5f) in July, and folly to ignore completely.

Eight race maiden who finished just under 2L third to Hyperfocus at odds of 50/1 at Haydock on Friday (6f soft) and has had few problems handling this track previously. Similar ground forecast so possibilities back down in trip.

Veteran who is a 12 time winner from 121 career starts. Often saves his best for Hamilton (well suited by the downhill run), and whilst he will handle soft ground, this company looks overly taxing nowadays.

Won twice since being gelded and joining this trainer, including on debut at Newcastle in March (gone well on each start on Tapeta). 5lb higher than when successful at Musselburgh latest (5f good to firm), and testing ground a virtual unknown.

Finished fourth to stablemate Penny Dreadful at Catterick last month (5f good), and that form has been franked since, so a 2lb lower mark is probably a 'free gift' from the assessor. Won on soft ground at Pontefract in July, so could be involved.

17:20 Doncaster - 13 September 2017 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

A wide open handicap to conclude with last year's 1-2 Singeur and Tylery Wonder both handicapped to produce solid performances over a C&D which the form book more generally suggests strongly suits. Muatadel must also come into contention on the basis of his improved form over the second half of the season for Roger Fell, and he was only grabbed close home by Tarboosh off this mark at Ripon last week. Discreet Hero has top-weight to shoulder, but seems certain to handle the forecast soft ground, but the race could be best left to the Scott Dixon trained pair Penny Dreadful and CROSSE FIRE. The former is 6lb higher than when beating the selection comprehensively at Catterick last month, but cut might suit the latter a fraction better, and with that form working out well, Crosse Fire could potentially reward those that are prepared to take a slight leap of faith at fairly decent odds.
