Showed nothing on his debut over 5f and was gelded for his pains and showed a little more on his second start. Looks one for the long-term though and the drop back to 6f doesn't look an obvious positive.

Always looked likely to come on for his first run and so it proved with a third at Carlisle over 6f on soft ground although he still looked green. More progress needed to win this but that's not totally ruled out.

11/4
One of the most experienced in the field, his form already has an inconsistent feel to it with a couple of runner-up slots (both on ground with give) remain his best. Upped to 6f for the first time on latest start (stiff task) at York and ran well.

Bred to be a speedy individual and showed enough to make him of interest again on debut but failed to match that run on his second start. May well have needed that run after a seven week break and now gelded he may yet be capable of better.

Made an encouraging debut over 5f at Beverley (green, outpaced; nearest at finish) and looked open to improvement. Upped to 6f last time at Redcar and went backwards from his debut; best watched for now.

Rare runner at this track for the yard who are yet to have a juvenile winner this season (0/9). Wasn't a cheap purchase though but was much sharper for a considerate introduction last time out at Salisbury (form franked) and interesting here.

Stable have had just the three juvenile winners this year and none on debut in the past 12 months. This one cost 6,000 gns as a yearling with winners on the dam's side but the 6f may prove a bit sharp based on her pedigree.

50/1
Trainer not known for first-timeout juvenile winners (1/15 past five years) and 0/5 with two-year-olds this year. Dam was a winner at 6f (two-year-old 5f winner) but the overall record of the yard means she's best watched on debut.

Forecasts

Mont Kinabalu (5/2), The Great Dandini (5/2), Charnock Richard (11/4), Captain Jameson (6/1), Twelve A (20/1), Sir Derrick (25/1), Bertie Wallace (28/1), Blyton Lass (33/1), Boudica Bay (50/1)

13:45 Catterick - 12 September 2017 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

Mount KInabalu is one who could well improve, especially with his stable in better form now, but easily the most interesting profile is held by THE GREAT DANDINI. From a yard not known for their juveniles or Catterick runners, he shaped well last time out in a race where the second has won since and he could just turn out to be useful with a couple of races under his belt. Captain Jameson is another who may make a step forward along with Twelve A who wasn’t disgraced on his debut and is open to progress.
  1. The Great Dandini
  2. Mont Kinabalu
  3. Twelve A
