Easy 6L winner of a similar contest at Newmarket (1m6f, good to firm) last time out, for which he has gone up 9lb. Has also won on good to soft, looks progressive and should make a bold bid to follow up.

Like his stablemate he is also on an upward curve and scored over this trip at Musselburgh in June. Not seen since a 3½L fifth in the Group 2 Queen's Vase at Royal Ascot. Up another 5lb for that, acts on good to soft and has each-way claims.

Has improved with every race so far, winning his last two on good to soft at Newmarket (1m5f) and Sandown (1m6f). 8lb rise will ask further question of him, but you couldn't rule him out from coming up with positive answers.

Has won two of his three starts and is another who looks to have a future. Ready winner at Newbury (1m5½f, soft) last time and a 5lb rise looks far from being insurmountable. Claims.

Won a Newbury maiden in April and has continued to progress despite not adding to that. Finished 1½L behind Time To Study in the Queen's Vase, though a shade below that form in a Newmarket Group 3 last time. Gelded since and others preferred.

Has improved throughout the campaign, winning two of her last three starts, both on good to soft. Stays at least 1m5½f and the way she won at Newbury last time suggests she will make a very good attempt to defy a 7lb rise today.

Goes well with cut in the ground and has won three times this season. Held from this mark when not getting a clear run at Hamilton (1m4f) last time and now steps up again in trip. Pedigree suggests that he may improve for that. Each-way claims.

Appeared to stay well enough when tried over this trip at York last time, but probably still has a little to prove on the stamina front. Could be competitive from same mark today and ran well on his only previous try on soft ground. Each-way shout.

In good form in both codes with a 2m hurdle success plus two 1m3f Flat wins from his last four starts. Up 9lb and takes a marked step up in class for the latest of those and along with that he has stamina to prove over this far on the level.

Orsino23

A slip in the weights induced a first win for him at Salisbury (1m6f, good) last time out. 9lb rise looks steep and defying that in this better grade will be a tough assignment.

Forecasts

Joshua Reynolds (11/4), Time To Study (11/2), Winston C (6/1), Great Sound (7/1), Mistress Quickly (8/1), Face The Facts (17/2), Hochfeld (11/1), Archi's Affaire (11/1), Taxmeifyoucan (16/1), Orsino (22/1)

16:45 Haydock - 9 September 2017 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

A very interesting way to bring the curtain down on the card and with John Gosden (3) and Mark Johnston (2) providing half the field between them it would be no surprise to see their representatives dominate. The market should also be a good guide, but without that knowledge at the time of writing the vote goes to one of Gosden's in JOSHUA REYNOLDS, who might just have the edge. Great Sound looks a serious threat along with topweight Hochfeld, whose stablemate Time To Study is another to consider. Mistress Quickly is also making good strides and it would be no surprise to see her in the thick of it.
  1. Joshua Reynolds
  2. Hochfeld
  3. Mistress Quickly
