Goes well in these big sprint handicaps as shown when runner-up in last year' Ayr Gold Cup and fourth last time in the Stewards Cup. Has mixed it with some of our best sprinters since and well drawn here for a stable with a tradition in this event.

Won this in 2014 and added the Wokingham at Royal Ascot two months ago. Stable have won three of the last six renewals of this and nicely drawn to add to the tally.

Last win came in 2015 when taking an Ascot Group Three. Goes well for this rider and not beaten far in the Wokingham and Stewards Cup on his latest starts. Stable have a good record in this.

Record of 4-14 and has won in Listed company. Has little to find with Growl on running in the Stewards Cup and finds himself better drawn this time. Would not want the ground to dry out any more.

Winner of a Group Two as a juvenile and a Group Three the following year. Looked a shadow of that horse on his return and he would be hard to recommend.

Has won here six times and stable are in excellent form. Back to his optimum trip here and has been earmarked for this. Draw could have been kinder and just 1-23 in this class.

Looks temperamental nowadays. Stable in form but otherwise difficult to recommend in a race this competitive.

Stable knows what it takes to win this and he ideally drawn to add to their recent haul. Encountered trouble in running when well supported for the Stewards Cup. One to note now with cheekpieces added.

Two years since his last success but he has been highly tried in the main. Dropping towards an attractive mark but a low draw makes him less appealing.

At home in a big field like this and landed the Bronze Cup at Ayr last autumn. Current mark asks serious questions with a low draw adding to the problem.

Stayed on to take fifth in this 12 months ago and 7lb lower here. Stable have been out of form this season but are going better now. Cheekpieces tried for the first time and could go close at a big price,

15:15 Ripon - 19 August 2017 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

In recent years it has paid to be drawn high and to carry 8-12 to 9-3. SHANGHAI GLORY meets those criteria and arrives following a bold show in the Stewards Cup when he was not amongst those drawn more favourably up the centre. A Listed winner with a 4-14 record he has a touch of class which suggest he might be better than this. Richard Fahey and David O'Meara have dominated this in recent years. Growl and Eastern Impact are classy individuals representing the former. Al Qahwa and the Wokingham winner Out Do are both nicely drawn for the O'Meara team and command respect. George Dryden, fifth last year, is well treated on that effort and is to be noted with the stable showing signs of returning to form. He could be one for each-way support if bookmakers are offering 5-6 places.
