Ended a quite long losing sequence when successful at York last time. Won with authority that day and has a chance off 5lb higher.

Grand campaigner who ran three solid races at Meydan before finding himself drawn on the wrong side at Royal Ascot last time. Handicapper is taking his time to relent, but he certainly warrants respect.

In good form last summer and looked set for another successful campaign when winning at Ascot over 6f in May. Has lost his way a little since and needs to bounce back.

Good servant for Tom Dascombe and now sets out on a fresh road for a new stable. Returning from a long break and may need the run to put an edge on him.

Has failed to get his head in front in is second season, but has many good efforts on his record and ran particularly well at Chelmsford last time. Sound chance for his top yard.

Has run five times for this stable and his last effort was his best. That came back in January, however, and it has to be taken on trust that he will be at his best after a lengthy lay-off.

Has won only five of his 79 races, but went close at Ascot a couple of starts ago so his latest effort at Thirsk was slightly disappointing. Hard to know what to expect this time.

Won off 1lb lower at Redcar in June and recent efforts suggest he remains in good heart. Each-way claims, but might prefer slightly quicker ground.

Won a Newcastle maiden in November and has been far from disgraced in three starts this season. Might have found the going too soft last time, and the return to better ground and 7f should see him in a better light.

Has nine wins on his CV and ran well off this mark over 6f at Pontefract last time. Has a C&D success to his credit so the return to 7f is not an issue.

Masham Star (11/4), Get Knotted (3/1), Johnny Barnes (4/1), Six Strings (9/2), Burnt Sugar (6/1), Qeyaadah (8/1), Normandy Barriere (8/1), Bertiewhittle (12/1), Belgian Bill (12/1), Johnny Cavagin (16/1), Barracuda Boy (33/1), Fort Bastion (33/1)

16:10 Doncaster - 19 August 2017 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

Not many of these can be fancied with any great confidence, so SIX STRINGS is only a tentative selection. He is lightly raced and open to improvement and the soft ground was probably to blame for his reverse last time. Top weight Johnny Barnes has to be feared, while grand servant Belgian Bill should be on the premises, along with, Get Knotted, Burnt Sugar and the consistent Masham Star.
