Has won two of his last three starts, and carries a penalty here as a result of the most recent which came on Friday. Both those victories came on the Tapeta, but he is equally effective on turf and should be capable of going close again here.

Most of his more impressive performances have come on the all-weather, and though he went close at Redcar two starts ago he generally seems held by the handicapper.

Green Howardp9
Age: 9|  Weight: 9-4| J: George Buckell| T: Rebecca Bastiman| OR:  57| D

No win since September 2014, but has been running relatively well recently and often reserves his best for this kind of ground. Has won off a much higher weight than this in the past.

Monsieur Jimmy14
Age: 5|  Weight: 9-3| J: G C O'Neill(6)| T: D Carroll| OR:  56

More accustomed to sprint distances and has yet to prove himself over this trip; but looks on a prohibitive handicap either way and others make more appeal.

Not at his best latest but had been running well over this trip prior to that; seems better on fast ground so wouldn't want any further rain and could hit the frame if able to show his better form.

Leonard Thomasp33
Age: 7|  Weight: 8-11| J: Phil Dennis| T: P A Kirby| OR:  50| D
9/1
Has only managed to get his head in front on the all-weather so far but has also run creditable races on turf. Capable of winning races of this quality but needs to be at his best, but is now on a career-low mark.

Euro Mac21
Age: 5|  Weight: 8-10| J: Gemma Tutty| T: N Bycroft| OR:  49

0/15 in her career and comes into this race in much poorer form than most of her rivals, even having been racing in weak handicaps. Drops in trip from 1m2f.

Tom's Anna24
Age: 7|  Weight: 8-7| J: Richard Oliver| T: S Regan| OR:  46

Has been coming up short in handicaps of this nature for a while, and looks fully exposed having not won since the second start of his career, in May 2013.

Age: 4|  Weight: 8-7| J: Callum Rodriguez| T: R M Whitaker| OR:  45

0/16 and goes off a low weight here, but there is a reason for his lowly handicap mark (he races from 1lb out of the handicap here), and he looks set for another minor role, similar to that he has played on all his recent starts.

Generally not so good since switching to this yard, but has consistently shown a tendency to race keenly in his races and now wears a hood for the first time. 1lb out of the handicap.

Billy Bond (4/1), Green Howard (9/2), Beadlam (6/1), Lozah (13/2), Tom's Anna (7/1), Geordie George (7/1), Euro Mac (8/1), Leonard Thomas (9/1), Monsieur Jimmy (14/1), Ivors Involvement (14/1), Cosmic Dust (20/1)

16:30 Ripon - 14 August 2017 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

Very few of these come into this in very good form, but perhaps GREEN HOWARD can provide the answer. Rebecca Bastiman's gelding may not have won for a few years but he has shown signs of a small revival recently and on ground that should suit this would prove to be a very fair handicap mark if he was able to show anything like his best. Leonard Thomas has only won on the all-weather up to now but is equally capable on turf and should go well, while Beadlam should be thereabouts under a 6lb penalty.
  1. Green Howard
  2. Leonard Thomas
  3. Beadlam
