Both wins have come on soft ground, the latter of which a Listed contest at Newmarket. Given time to recover from a slight disappointing display at Royal Ascot and worth giving another chance to on ground we know he likes.
Winner at Newmarket when last seen and runner-up from that contest produced a respectable effort here on Friday. Never tried on softer ground but pedigree gives some hope that he will go on it and yard won this in 2011.
Winner on soft ground at York three starts back and well backed last time out at that same course. Can look workmanlike at times but booking of this jockey looks a positive on that front and first-time blinkers may work. Worth giving another chance to.
Convincing C&D winner last time out and form of that race looks respectable. Only up 4lb for that and plenty of hope he will handle conditions based on his pedigree. May be able to build on that latest success and less to prove than some in here.
Newcastle maiden winner last year but handicapper given him little chance on all recent starts and booking of a claimer suggests connections still worry he's poorly handicapped. Has failed to perform in softer conditions in the past and Dettori prefers Medahim.
Seemingly improved plenty over the winter and followed up a Wolverhampton maiden win with a narrow success at Windsor last time out. Upped 2lb in a stronger race and he needs to find improvement.
C&D winner here at the back end of 2016 but too keen to do himself justice on only subsequent start, something that was a trait throughout his juvenile career. Needs to have learned to settle better and possible he may need this after an absence.
Forecasts
Taamol (11/4), Battered (7/2), Medahim (7/2), Mazyoun (6/1), Sir Titan (7/1), Aventinus (8/1), Colonel Frank (20/1)
Zoffany progeny often go on soft ground and there's a good chance AVENTINUS can build on his course and distance success from last time out. Battered was disappointing last time but gets the services of De Sousa here while Taamol should appreciate the return to softer conditions.
