Landed a 6f Newcastle handicap for William Haggas and was more highly tried subsequently. Sold for 10,000 gns after a dismal show last time and probably best observed here.

Winner of a Thirsk maiden and produced his best effort when third to Golden Apollo at the backend of last season. Valid excuses for his first two runs of this season but showed more here last time. Shaped that day as though the switch to 6f might reap dividends and the jockey booking catches the eye.

Eight-race maiden for previous handler in Ireland, but there were plenty hints of ability shown in that spell. Raced too freely on his stable debut following an absence, but should be more effective here over this trip. On a recovery mission having been well supported that day.

Beat a couple of horses rated 70 and 72 by 7L on her last start at Redcar and now goes handicapping for the first time. Mark looks fair enough on that evidence and yard's horses have been going well.

Beaten by Fareeq at Newcastle last year and weighted to turn the tables now. However, he has produced a couple of weak efforts since and needs to bounce back from a particularly poor show last time.

Made a complete mess of the start last time and has done so previously. There is no obvious pacemaker in this so that may be less of a problem this time, although his current handicap mark is demanding.

Six of the last seven winners of this were are all rated below 70 so she has obvious claims as the only runner in this in that range. Comes into this on the back of a big run at Newbury last week which has seen her put up 3lb in future handicaps.

Forecasts

Bellevarde (2/1), Peace Dreamer (5/2), Glenamoy Lad (7/1), Anfaass (7/1), Debonaire David (7/1), Norwegian Highness (16/1), Fareeq (20/1)

17:20 Newmarket - 4 August 2017 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

Peace Dreamer was impressive in landing her maiden last time. On paper she appears well treated but the form line may not be that reliable and BELLEVARDE is preferred. She carries some risk as a 12-race maiden but her latest run means she is due to race off higher marks in the future. She meets the criteria of previous winners of this and receives plenty of weight from her rivals. Glenamoy Lad was a costly failure last time after racing too keenly whilst Anfaas looks ready to produce his best run of the campaign.
  1. Bellevarde
  2. Glenamoy Lad
  3. Anfaass
