Both wins this year have come on the AW over 6f with his one turf run being respectable although the testing conditions he experienced there rather did for his chance. Capable enough to be in the mix off this mark and over this trip but there is a slight worry about underfoot conditions.

Lots of placed efforts this year but overall the losing spell is starting to look rather long now although he she has slipped back to below her last winning mark. Certainly well treated on her best form and this 7f trip may be better for her these days but the feeling remains that she is vulnerable to the younger brigade.

The only win to his name came this year when he was successful over 7f on the AW at Lingfield off a mark of 60 with that trip looking a little on the short side despite being able to win. Last two runs on turf have confirmed that he's still in good form although the 7f still doesn't look enough of a test for him.

Started life with a win at Doncaster earlier in the month taking a maiden over 6f with cut in the ground and that victory forced him straight into handicaps where he lost his unbeaten record. Wasn't disgraced at all though on that occasion as he still looked to have a lot to learn racing against his elders for the first time and this 7f will suit him better with progress still to come.

Looked as though he might be something to work on if you take his second at Salisbury on his penultimate start as the benchmark. A mile looked too far for him last time out and he steps into handicaps for the first time back in trip and there may be a bit more to come in this sphere.

There does looks to be some potential in him based on some of his runs although his handicap debut in a hood was a poor one. Ran much better last time out without any headgear looking as though there was more to come without necessarily having the potential of a couple of these.

His maiden form showed some promise but the switch to handicaps hasn't really see that come to fruition yet in three efforts in that sphere. Didn't really appear to take to the cheekpieces last time out (ran very free) and goes again here in the same headgear with others preferred.

Forecasts

Samarmadi (7/4), Lucky Louie (4/1), Gunmaker (9/2), Dream Farr (6/1), Childesplay (8/1), Captain Hawk (10/1), Mulsanne Chase (25/1)

20:40 Newbury - 27 July 2017 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

SAMARMADI looks the obvious choice in this finale given that this 7f should suit him and the fact that he still has some improvement to come. Gunmaker is another from the three-year-olds that looks as though he can progress with Lucky Louie and Dream Farr the pick of the older horses. With the latter there is a slight worry about the ground and the former will need this to turn into a good test to make his presence felt.
  1. Samarmadi
  2. Lucky Louie
  3. Gunmaker
