Showed her best form this year when upped to 1m2f on her third start making all on that occasion and being seen to good advantage. Again helped by the run of the race last time off a 2lb lower mark (win came off 79) and might not get an easy lead here.

Didn't run as a juvenile and showed improved form on heavy ground when winning his maiden ay Carlisle over 1m1f. Kept his progress going on his handicap debut on better ground over C&D only going down narrowly although possibly helped by being up with the pace in race where few came from the back. Should have more to come and looks one of the leading contenders in this.

Conditions (soft ground) really looked to suit when he got off the mark on only his second start/seasonal reappearance at Newmarket over a mile asserting late on to win by 3L. His handicap debut matched if not bettered that form when sixth at Doncaster over a mile with this extra 2f looking sure to suit.

A winner on his juvenile debut the switch to handicaps this year has not gone well over a variety of trips. He ran poorly tried over a mile last time and although his mark is declining it still looks a tough one based on what he's done so far and is best watched here.

Winner of a juvenile maiden over a mile on his second start on softish ground his opening mark in handicaps after a nine month break looked a stiff one. He ran with credit on that occasion at Haydock without looking an obvious future winner although a return to soft ground may well help.

Has started at a short price without being favourite on all his starts so far coming good on his third and last run at Windsor over a mile. Travelled well last time out and won with something in hand but does have to prove himself on this softer surface.

Got off the mark last time out dropped into a classified stakes with his previous attitude problems looking under control this time around. Will find this a tougher test back in handicaps against some potential improvers off a career high mark.

Won back-to-back contests albeit with a gap of five months in between when taking handicaps off 59 and 64 the second of those proving his effectiveness on soft ground. Has remained in good form but this mark of 73 is proving tougher to overcome and a place may be the best he can hope for again.

Forecasts

Baashiq (10/3), Pilgrim's Treasure (7/2), Music Seeker (9/2), Big Tour (11/2), Bedouin (7/1), Pivoine (7/1), Rake's Progress (8/1), Flying North (20/1), Jackhammer (20/1)

19:05 Newbury - 27 July 2017 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

The Godolphin duo Big Tour and Pligrim’s Treasure are to be respected here although the former does have to prove himself on the surface. Baashiq may well appreciate a return to a softer surface after showing up well on his handicap debut with Music Seeker looking interesting on what he’s shown so far. Rake’s Progress is a consistent sort but this mark may prove beyond him and despite the form figures this year PIVOINE is the suggestion. He’s not really had things go his way this year and the extra distance here should be in his favour with improvement still left to come.
  1. Pivoine
  2. Music Seeker
  3. Pilgrim's Treasure
