Won twice last year but yet to get his head in front this time around. Up 3lb for finishing runner-up at Hamilton last time and generally struggled off mark this high in the past but yard already on the scoresheet here this week and he may be able to run a place.

Won a Class 2 contest at Doncaster on debut and not disgraced in Listed company at York on next start. Group 3 company at Newbury proved too deep on final start of 2016 and he may need this run having not been seen since.

Winner at Newbury on debut and ran well in Listed company at Dundalk on second start. Hasn't really kicked on from that effort since and didn't really shape like a return to form was imminent last time at Royal Ascot.

Won a maiden at Kempton last year and started this campaign with a promising effort at Wolverhampton. Was unlucky when going close to winning a valuable Goodwoo handicap in May and drawn on the wrong side at Royal Ascot last time. A little lenient of the handicapper to drop him 1lb for that run and no surprise to see him thereabout this time.

Started this year with a win at Doncaster and followed that up with a win at Chelmsford. Unlucky with the draw at Royal Ascot last time and every chance he'll keep progressing throughout the season. Can be slowly away and probably won't go away with those antics here.

Beautifully bred colt by a top-class sprinter out of a 1,000 Guineas winner. Didn't need to improve on his debut effort to win a Thirsk maiden and backed that up with a win at Doncaster despite racing keenly in the early stages. Ran well at Royal Ascot last time when dead-heating for seventh and that effort can be upgraded after he was taken to the wrong side with regards to the pace bias. Leading claims with more progression likely.

Won two of his starts as a two-year-old and hasn't really improved for a gelding operation this campaign. Tailed off at Ascot last time and well-being in question currently.

Justified odds-on favouritism to win at Beverley two starts back and finished just behind Afaak at Doncaster last month. Interesting he skipped Royal Ascot and could be more improvement to come.

Hajaj13
Age: 3|  Weight: 8-2| J: Josephine Gordon| T: C Fellowes| OR:  81| D

Winner of a Class 4 contest at Ascot on return to action but has a habit of compromising his chances with slow starts. Well beaten at Windsor last time out and others look more progressive.

The Statesman14
Age: 3|  Weight: 8-2| J: K T O'Neill| T: Ian Williams| OR:  80
20/1
Winner at Sandown two starts back, beating Hajaj by 1¼L but struggled in a deeper contest last time at York. Needs to settle better if he's to reach his true potential but still lightly raced and may do better.

Forecasts

Afaak (3/1), Mountain Angel (4/1), City Of Joy (4/1), Masham Star (8/1), Executive Force (8/1), Medahim (12/1), Maths Prize (12/1), Hajaj (16/1), The Statesman (20/1), Lost At Sea (25/1)

14:50 Newmarket - 15 July 2017 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

AFAAK was victim of the strong pace bias at Royal Ascot last time out but he ran well enough to suggest he can land a race of this nature. Mountain Angel didn't finish far behind the selection when last seen at Doncaster and he's entirely unexposed while both Medahim and City Of Joy weren't disgraced at the Royal meeting and are still capable of progression.
  1. Afaak
  2. Mountain Angel
  3. Medahim
