Has been knocking on the door plenty this season without yet quite prising it open and went down by just ½L at Doncaster (7f, good to soft) last time. Raised 1lb for that, equally effective over 6f and acts on any ground, so no surprise if he picks up some more prize money this time.

All three wins have been over this trip, two of them over C&D on both soft and good to firm ground, including last month from 2lb lower. Very interesting on his return here and after a 4lb drop.

Ideally wants a bit of sunshine as all four of his wins have been on good to firm ground. The last of those was from 7lb higher at Yarmouth in September, so he has the ability for this and it would be no surprise to see him return to better form now that the handicapper has cut him some slack.

Very frustrating to follow after five runner-up spots from nine outings, including over C&D (soft) last time. Has gone up 1lb for that, which won't make it any easier. Should run well, but given his record it would be a bit of a turn up if he wins.

6lb lower than his last turf win (6f, good to soft) at Carlisle in September. Acts on a sound surface and showed signs of a revival at Ayr (6f, good to soft) last time. Same mark today and should be thereabouts.

Was in decent form here in May when runner-up in successive C&D contests on fast ground. Well beaten at Carlisle last time following a 3lb rise, but now back down 2lb and can again get competitive.

All five of his wins have bee recorded over C&D and he acts on any ground with good in the description. However, the last of those was three seasons ago, since which he has had his problems and we have seen nothing from him this year to suggest that a revival is imminent.

Forecasts

Kenny The Captain (11/4), Manshood (3/1), Inexes (7/2), Portland Street (6/1), Johnny Cavagin (8/1), Highly Sprung (9/1), Rosina (14/1), Baron Run (40/1)

19:05 Hamilton - 15 July 2017 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

Johnny Cavagin should again go well here, while the same can be said of Portland Street and Kenny The Captain, who has looked like a winner waiting to happen for a little while now. Manshood would not be an undeserving winner, but following him is proving to be expensive, while Rosina and Inexes are others with claims. However, HIGHLY SPRUNG could spring a bit of surprise here after some poor recent form, now that the handicapper has given him some daylight.
  1. Highly Sprung
  2. Johnny Cavagin
  3. Manshood
