2-25 so far and therefore not easy to catch right, but does have a distance win to his name and won't mind these conditions. Went close off this mark over C&D (soft) last month and likely to be thereabouts.

On the same mark as when scoring at Pontefract over this trip (good to firm) in May. Has been well beaten from slightly higher in all starts since, but he is usually very competitive from marks of 70 or less and he can probably come back to some sort of form here.

Scored on good ground over 1m1f at Ayr in May from a 2lb lower mark but has been held from today's official rating in two subsequent starts and looks likely to find one or two too good.

Just the one win on turf on the Flat to his name at Ripon (1m, good) last season, but he remains 8lb higher than that, having won from a mark of 66 on the All Weather since then and also gone well from a mark of 74 at Newcastle. Looks handicapped to put up a big performance here.

1lb higher than when scoring at Wolverhampton (6f, AW) in April. Well beaten on his last two starts, but it is not long since he was beaten just 1½L (5f, good to firm) at Pontefract from this mark. Has won over 1m, so even though he has hardly been tried over it this year, he can't be ruled out.

Won a very moderate novices' handicap at Wolverhampton (1m½f, AW) last time, but at least he did that by 3½L. However, judged on previous efforts from marks such as today's, his penalty is likely to find him out this time.

Has won twice here over 6f and has several 7f wins to his name, but whenever he has been tried over 1m he has been found wanting for stamina. Looks up against it.

Scored over 7f on both his first two starts for Richard Fahey, but despite being reasonably consistent, the handicapper had him thereafter. Now has his first start for this yard from 1lb lower than that last win and over this trip for the first time. Dam won over 1m2f, so there is hope that he will see it out. Interesting.

Forecasts

Curzon Line (15/8), Kiwi Bay (4/1), Weapon Of Choice (4/1), Know Your Name (5/1), Dark Confidant (7/1), Ravenhoe (8/1), Mustaqbal (9/1), Yair Hill (16/1), Circuitous (22/1), Space War (25/1)

18:05 Carlisle - 14 July 2017 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

Mick Easterby has farmed these sort of races over the years and both Curzon Line, who looks well handicapped, and Space War, who is interesting back over this trip, are very much respected. However, WEAPON OF CHOICE comes here on the back of a hurdles win and is also attractively weighted for his first Flat run on just over a year. He is given the vote, while Dark Confidant, Mustaqbal and Ravenhoe are others who could be in the shake-up.
  1. Weapon Of Choice
  2. Curzon Line
  3. Dark Confidant
