Career best when taking a Group 3 at Newbury in September, beating Dartmouth by ¾L but found Group 1 company in Germany a little too hot on final start of 2016. Respectable effort on Group 3 comeback run at Sandown in May and entitled to come on for that so may make his presence felt here. Won't mind any cut in the ground.

Took to step up to Group 1 company in his stride in the Coronation Cup when finishing 1¾L behind Highland Reel last month despite hanging down the camber down the straight. That's the best form on offer here and proven at the course having won twice over C&D. Trainer holds a good strike-rate around here and with runners in first-time cheekpieces, looks the one to beat provided conditions don't get too soft.

Winner of the Group 1 Eclipse last year in soft conditions but struggled to land any sort of blow in four subsequent Group 1 contests. Prevailed when dropped in class earlier in the season in a Group 3 at Newbury but has work to do to turn around the form with Frontiersman who finished 3½L ahead of him at Epsom in the Coronation Cup. Softer conditions could help level the playing field but he's the second string on jockey bookings and would probably need a deluge of rain to figure.

Winner of a Group 3 at Newbury on second start this year but form of that contest hasn't really worked out and he's struggled twice in Group 2 company since. This no easier than either of those contests and may struggle again.

Group 2 winner and four-time Group 3 who won at Chester on his return to action this year. Well beaten upped in class at Royal Ascot last time though and he's far from straightforward (often races keenly and hangs under pressure with an awkward head carriage. Would appear to be down the order on jockey bookings and likely to find this contest too demanding against less exposed rivals.

Winner of the Dante last year before going on to finish fourth in the Derby. Has been a tad disappointing since but highly tried at least and not disgraced in the Group 2 Hardwicke Stakes at Royal Ascot last time. This possibly a slightly weaker contest than that race and first-time cheekpieces could eke out a little more improvement. Each-way claims.

FRONTIERSMAN looks like the one to beat after an excellent effort in the Coronation Cup behind Highland Reel at Epsom last time out and he will appreciate the slight drop in class. We may not have seen the best of Wings Of Desire yet and he wasn't disgraced on his seasonal reappearance last time out; first-time cheekpieces may see improve while Algometer is proven with cut in the ground and may also come on for his latest run.
