Won from a 2lb lower mark (1m, good to firm) at Thirsk in May, before being held in better company on his last two starts. This is a bit more realistic and he stays 1m2f, so won't mind how quick they go. Decent claims from a good draw.

All five of her wins have been at around this trip, mainly on good to firm ground. Also acts on good, but wouldn't really want any rain. Comes here in form after scoring at Musselburgh last time, where the front pair had 2½L to spare. 5lb rise will probably demand a career best for her to follow up.

Best at 7f-1m and on fast ground. Unlikely to get the latter here. 7lb higher than his best winning mark, though has run very well on the All Weather this year from today's mark and on turf from 1lb lower. Entitled to be competitive, though needs a bit extra to win again.

Yet to win beyond 7f, which was the trip over which he won by 6L at York in May. Handicapper didn't miss that and put him up 12lb. Now 2lb lower after a couple of defeats, but both his mark and this trip may just ask too much today.

Sole success was over this trip at Salisbury (good to firm) almost two years ago. Has made steady progress since then, despite not adding to the win column and recent efforts suggest that a 1lb may well see him involved. Goes on anything with good in the description and cheek pieces now swapped for blinkers. Interesting.

Had been slipping in the weights after a barren spell, but came back to life over C&D (good) last time out, when beaten under 2L in a similar contest. Back up 1lb for that, but if he can repeat the effort he has claims.

Yet to make the frame on turf, his one win being on the All Weather (7½f) when trained in France by Andre Fabre. Has dropped 8lb for two handicap runs over today's trip since joining this yard. Acts on a sound surface and, while recent form is nothing like good enough, a market check is suggested to gauge confidence from this mark.

Won a Beverley maiden on his second start (7½f, good) last year and proceeded to run two nice races in narrow defeats in his first two handicaps this season. Was probably a bit too keen last time at Chelmsford, but if he can settle then he is on a very competitive mark, is unexposed and should go well.

Forecasts

Calder Prince (7/2), Areen Heart (7/2), Lincoln Rocks (7/2), Cote d'Azur (9/2), Midhmaar (11/2), Alnashama (17/2), Theodorico (20/1), Accurate (66/1)

19:20 Haydock - 7 July 2017 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

Midhmaar is dropping to mark from which he could be effective, while Calder Prince is feared after his latest effort over C&D. Cote D'Azur, Lincoln Rocks and Alnashama all have claims, though with that a little to prove and the suggestion here is AREEN HEART. It is interesting that Richard Fahey chooses to take on older horses and aside from his latest run, he has shown that he has a future as a handicapper and today could be the day that he bags his first such event.
  1. Areen Heart
  2. Midhmaar
  3. Cote d'Azur
