Scored over C&D (good) from 7lb lower last season and is at his best on a sound/fast surface. Beaten just a neck from 1lb lower two starts ago at Catterick and with his useful claimer taking off 7lb here he will be tough to beat.
Has already won three races this year, including on turf at Ripon (5f, good) in April. Sees out 6f well and was very close to winning again back over 5f at Ripon last time (good) from today's mark. Should have a big say.
Scored over this trip in a Newcastle maiden (AW) in March and followed up by going very close on his handicap debut at Chelmsford, when beaten just a neck from 1lb lower than today. Handicapper had his measure from 1lb higher on his turf debut at Redcar last time (good to firm) and has just a bit to prove today.
Beat Merry Banter a neck over this trip at Hamilton (good to firm) last year and has already won a couple of handicaps, including last time by a nose at Ripon (5f, good). Up 1lb for that and no reason why he can't go close.
Showed plenty of promise with a win on debut last year and went close next time, while he also ran with credit on his seasonal return at York (5f, soft) in May. Below par last time over 6f, but the drop to this trip and cheekpieces might help him get very competitive once again.
Finished last season with a soft ground maiden win at Windsor (5f) and almost got back to that level of form in her second start/ second handicap run at Salisbury (5f, good to firm) last time. 1lb lower today but will still need improvement to better some of these opponents.
Forecasts
Jack Flash (5/2), Merry Banter (3/1), Rock Of America (3/1), Foxcatcher (8/1), Stoneyford Lane (17/2), Harome (9/1)
Potentially a trappy little contest here with the suggestion being MERRY BANTER, whose useful claimer taking off 7lb just tipping the scales in his favour. Jack Flash looks likely to be a serious challenger, while Harome is perhaps next best and Stoneyford Lane is another with claims in an interesting race.
