Made a reasonable debut at Lingfield (7f, AW) in April, but perhaps the soft ground was against him on his turf debut at Newbury (7f) last time, when he was a well beaten favourite. This step up in trip should suit, while he may prefer this much quicker ground too, although he does have that to prove.

Placed in four of his six starts, the last three in handicaps. Just held from a mark of 82 last time, so connections return to this sphere to try and gain that elusive first success. Hood retained today and he sets the standard on his form so far, so this may finally be his day.

Well beaten over 7f on debut and then when stepped up to 1m2f at Windsor (good to firm) last time, though that was at least an improvement. Still has plenty of improving to do to beat a couple of these and likely that handicapping will prove more productive.

Has made small gains with each outing so far and was beaten just ½L when runner up over this trip in a Leicester maiden (good to soft) last time. Yet to race on fast ground on turf, though his sire Teofilo won on good to firm, so hope that he will handle it. Respected.

Daughter of a 6f-7½f (inc. AW) winning half-sister to the multiple 5f-5¾f winner Comptonspirit, out of a 5f-6f winner. Pedigree reads well enough, though yard not known for juvenile winners on debut and probably best watched this time.

Forecasts

Black Trilby (1/4), Wonderfillo (5/1), Balestra (9/1), Bringit (50/1), Little Miss Tango (50/1)

19:00 Bath - 5 July 2017 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

This looks like a good opportunity for the consistent BLACK TRILBY to get off the mark. His handicap form is very solid and that is taken as a positive. The danger could come from Balestra, but he does have a bit to prove now upped in trip and on much quicker ground. Wonderfillo is respected and should also be involved at the business end.
  1. Black Trilby
  2. Balestra
  3. Wonderfillo
