11/2
Beaten favourite or joint-favourite in all of his last three runs, including over C&D last time when he came there with every chance but faded tamely. Trip and ground no problem and now 1lb lower. Can't be ruled out, but clearly carries risks.

Age: 5|  Weight: 11-12| J: Callum Bewley(3)| T: C Grant| OR:  102| BF
12/1
Has made the frame in all three starts in handicaps at 2m½f-2m4f and all on good ground. Yet to convince that he is effective with cut in the ground and beginning to look exposed from this mark already. Needs to find more.

Well beaten on all five starts in bumpers and over hurdles and now goes handicapping from what does not look the most attractive of marks. Tongue-strap also tried for the first time. Market check advised, but does not look an obvious candidate on paper.

Age: 7|  Weight: 10-12| J: D R Fox| T: N C Kelly| OR:  88
8/1
Won a 2m Uttoxeter handicap hurdle in April from 4lb lower, but not been as good from 1lb higher than today on his last two starts, both on good ground. May benefit from a bit of cut again this time, but is another who has a bit to prove.

Age: 7|  Weight: 10-7| J: Jonathan England| T: S England| OR:  83| CD
9/2
Very well placed by his trainer to win four of his seven starts since joining her, the latest of them being over hurdles (C&D, good to soft) last month. 9lb higher for that 5L success and despite being out of sorts on the Flat last time, he looks one of the more likely contenders now returning here.

Danny O'ruaircp30
Age: 5|  Weight: 10-6| J: Henry Brooke| T: James Moffatt| OR:  82
25/1
Yet to make the frame in four attempts over hurdles and beaten 67L when ninth of 11 over C&D (good to soft) last month. Impossible to fancy at present.

Running In Heelst,v7(ex 7)
Age: 8|  Weight: 10-6| J: B S Hughes| T: R Menzies| OR:  75| D
11/8
Point-to-point winner who won on her first start for this trainer/hurdles debut (2m½f, good) at Market Rasen last week by 16L. Up in grade here and carries a penalty, but could not have been more impressive and looks the one they all have to beat.

Cherry Princess238
Age: 7|  Weight: 10-0| J: A Nicol| T: B Butterworth| OR:  74
33/1
Yet to make the frame from 10 attempts over hurdles and both Flat wins were on good/fast ground, the latest being way back in 2014. Has shown next to nothing in a long time and can't be recommended from 2lb out of the handicap.
9
Horse silk
Loughview Laddiet27
Age: 8|  Weight: 10-0| J: Thomas Dowson(5)| T: N C Kelly| OR:  74
28/1
Very mediocre hurdler who comes here from a hefty defeat in a seller and badly in need of some positives. Can't see many today.
10
Horse silk
Absolute27
Age: 6|  Weight: 10-0| J: Sam Coltherd(5)| T: J Parkinson & S Smith| OR:  73
8/1
Another racing from out of the handicap, although he has occasionally at least made the frame despite remaining a maiden. 7L fourth in a Hexham seller last time and handles cut and has each-way claims at best.

17:20 Cartmel - 30 June 2017 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

This is unlikely to be a memorable race to conclude proceedings, but something has to win it and RUNNING IN HEELS may not be an original choice, but he is nonetheless given the nod. A mare with proven stamina from point-to-points, she did well to win over the minimum trip at Market Rasen in some style and looks capable of defying a penalty. My Renaissance and Beeno are the pair most likely to be chasing her home, while Absolute is not ruled out of the frame.
  1. Running In Heels
  2. My Renaissance
  3. Beeno
